Had a baby not to long ago. Not a lot of time for training so thinking about checking out EN. Not sure what distance to focus on this season, will depend on time availability… that said can anyone answer the following…
In hours:
Outseason Intermediate…longest weekday session?.. longest total week?
70.3 Intermediate…longest weekday session?.. longest total week?
Short Course Intermediate…longest weekday session?.. longest total week?
Like most, I am mostly concerned about weekday’s. Also wondering if any of the programs have 1/day workouts instead of 2/day.

Hi,
Happy to help.
OS: 1hr, about 7hrs totalHIM: ~2hrs, as your longest long run done on a Thursday. Don’t worry about the total hoursSC: 1hr. Don’t worry about the total.Generally, these plans will have 3-4x 2/day per week.
Total hours: I would encourage you to fit the plan around your life, not your life around the plan. That is, if we have you scheduled for a 1hr run on a Wednesday but life gives you 40-45’, modify the workout to fit your constraints. In this case, keep as much of the main set as you can and shorten everything else.
When writing these plans, Patrick and I only have volume goals for the long bike and the long run. The volume of every other session is more a function of “your typical athlete can budget up to 1hr for a Wed AM run,” so we call it an hour, but there is NO requirement to do an hour. The total weekly volume is then just a math exercise. It’s not a planning goal for us and shouldn’t be for you. I should also mention that we are rewriting the Short Course plans now, '12 version will be out in March.
Highly recommend you create a trial membership, see my signature below. I’ll plan your season for you, Patrick will call you to answer any questions you have, and you can ask our members about their experiences with us as members of the team and/or as training plan customers. More importantly, we have MANY folks who are in the same boat as you and they’ll be happy to tell you what modifications they’ve made to our plans to fit their busy lives.
Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions!
