Looking for some good gift ideas to buy for my associates at year end. Budget is between $30 - 40. For reference, in years past I have done movie ticket type things, had deserts delivered, etc. Anyone got good ideas or things they received that were appreciated?

Gift cards are always really nice, from just about anywhere.
Spot
Amazon gift card.
What type of business? That might speak a lot to what kind of taste your employees will have. For example, when I worked at Labatt’s everyone got a coupon for a free case of beer (surprise surprise).
Like another poster said, gift cards are always good, but maybe make them for a local mall so they have a big variety of stores to choose from.
Another one I had done for me one year was two free taxi rides for $25 each - for getting home from holiday parties and not having to worry about it.

I typically get a book that has some meaning to the person.
I’ve also done amazon gift cards.
Thanks for the suggestions. It is a corporate type 50,000+ company…so a more conservative environment in terms of atmosphere.
If you have a lead on where I can get hookers and blow in the $30 range, let me know. Otherwise it might have to be hookers or blow, and then the decision gets more difficult.

Hey, I never said quality hookers or good blow.

Thats the Navy way!
I’m trying to find my technical staff a good infotainment coffee table book but that doesn’t make it any easier.
Plan B is a gift basket of fancy sweets and I of course pick up the bill for our weekly team lunch.

Well, you can probably get a small rock of crack and a cheap hooker for that. But much like cigars, there are some things you want to pay more for.
Gift cards are good. If you want to personalize it more and know the people, get them for stores or restaurants specific for them.
One year we got a jar of amazingly bad candy from our manager, we saw it in the store right after for less than $2.00. The 6 or so of us had gone together to get him a gift card for around $50. That’s when I knew there was a reason gifts flow down the org chart, not up.
Try Jenna Jameson’s “How to Make Love Like a Porn Star”.
Harry and David pears $20 shipped.
You can pick up non-religious holiday ornaments or decorations personalized with your company logo or name or something.
This year, we gave holiday ornaments with the command’s name and “Happy Holidays 2014” and I wrote a short letter to the Sailors and family talking about some of our highlights from the year, thanking them for their efforts and support, and wishing them success in the new year.
Did they like it? Who knows? But I figured it was better to give something a little personal, and tied to the command, rather than just some random thing. Whatever you give, it should be tied to what you do, in some way.
Maybe that’s hookers and blow.
If 50,000 is the average salary I recommend Walmart gift cards.
