We all know that Lukas is bad ass runner. We are unsure if he is runner turned triathlete or vice versa.
I am looking for other elite runners who turned Tri.
Who are they and what are their performances on the track.
Thanks.

Jimmy Archer is one bad ass runner, probably faster than Lukas and is now a pro triathlete
.
Nice Tri,
Do you his PRs on “the track?”
.
Obviously Gwen…but also Sean Jefferson.

.
Kev,
Do you have their PRs?
Kaleb VanOrt
Joe Thorne
Jason Pedersen
Dunno times on the track but I’m sure the last guy could chime in on here about them.
Dirk Heinze. 800 indoors: 1:45, 1500m 3:38.42.
Not sure if he is still at it, but Greg Whitely tried to convert.
Track PR’s
1500m 3:37
Mile 3:55
5000m 13:24
Nice Tri…aka TJ…good to see you on Slowtwitch! Did not know your handle until now.
Pardon my ignorance, but I am not too familiar with Archer’s performance as a triathlete. With these numbers he has to be one of the best runners in triathlon. Does he regularly enhilate the final leg in his triathlons?
What distances does he excel in and what kind of times does he run for his specialties?
Whitley was a badass as a runner. I have one of the top 1500m times as an 11 year old…he is one better than me. I first raced against greg in 1979…Las Vegas.

I guess we all have to figure out what Paul considers elite. In my opinion, I would not consider Kaleb an elite runner. A rather fast runner, most definately, but not elite.
I’m a fan, Tj.
Great to see you here. I’d love to read a short post about why the praying matis.
Rock on man!
I guess my interpretation would be "very good runners that used to only run who have now become triathletes that excel particularly at the running part of it’’ but that’s just me.
Sean Jefferson - USAT Rookie of the Year in 2010
800m - 1:50
1500m - 3:38.8
Mile - 3:56.4
3k - 8:03
5k - 13:58
10k - 29:52 (Cross Country)

Jesse Thomas won wildflower. Steeplechaser for Standford. 5000 in 14:11 - not sure if that is his best time.
Actually, I work with ON Running and want to get some shoes on the feet of elite runners in triathlon.
Sean has a 3:56 mile time in college but I wanna say he went faster when he raced for Nike in Oregon.

Gwen has a 4:39 mile PR from college at Wisco.
Elite runners who turned to triathlon as a new career or just weekend warriors post athletic careers or off-season racing?
Graham Hood, but I think triathlon is more of a fun hobby/weekend warrior than an attempt at a new career. He’s still a good triathlete and went sub 10 hrs at IMCanada which is great for someone with a day job. It would have neat to see what he could have done if he started triathlon 20 years ago, but I think he made the right choice.
1500m 3:33.94
mile 3:51.55
'92 & '96 Olympian in the 1,500m
Graham’s wife Malindi Elmore a 2004 Olympian and 2010 PanAms Bronze in the 1,500m usually jumps into a triathlon for fun in her off-season.
Megan (Metcalf) Wright an 2008 Olympian for the 5000m (15:11) has also jumped into some triathlons in the off season.
I think most professional runners who are truly world class only approach triathlon as off season training or post-running career fun. The problem with continued racing on the track is that the track doesn’t lie so results are very measurable, triathlon: not so much.
