Eliminate Zipp hub rattle - How?

How do I get rid of the annoying rattle on my new Zipp 404s? The little carbon fiber caps rattle endlessly while riding and its slowly driving me insane.

Thanks

There is a rubber gasket that is out of place. I haven’t seen any explicit instructions on how to fix it, but it is a simple fix.

Super simple. With an allen wrench take the end cap off. Look where the quick release goes and you will see where I mean. Then pull the cap out until it is snug against the o-ring. Takes about two minutes. You will need two allen wrenches.

Aloha,

I think you mean pull the o-ring out until it is back in the groove. This is super common with Zipps according to Bill at Zipp…

Mine did not come with a gasket so I superglued it.

BTW…Tom Demerley mentioned this problem in this nice article he wrote. It’s real annoying if you don’t know what the rattle is!

Worked like a charm, but now the little carbon fiber caps don’t sit flush with the hub. There is a small 1-2mm gap and I have a feeling the gasket won’t hold in place for long. It doesn’t seem very secure.

I might resort to some glue or double-sided tape to hold them in place and closer to the hub.

Thanks
