Electronic Dura Ace in stock

We have electronic Dura Ace in stock in the shop. What do you think demand will be? Shimano still has no delivery date for the Tri/TT electric shifters. What does the Slowtwitch world think?

how much is it?
how does the total weight including battery compare to regular dura ace?

A $4000+ price tag is Too much fuckin money for the Electronic Dura Ace groupo. In my opinion, it’s hard to top Red right now, but I admit that automatic front derailure trim future on the electronic DA is neat.

Leave it to ShitmaNO to find a solution to the problem that no one has.

I think any triathlete that gets electronic Dura Ace is just spending money. I can see no competitive advantage in having it.

Hmmm … is Bob running it yet? I played around with it on Wayne Stetina’s bike at the Sunflower Revolution last summer. I’ll have to come up and check it out. Why do I have a feeling Campbell hates it …

I like the thought of being able to change gears on my tri bike while sitting on the brakes but $4,000+ is a LOT.

I move country pretty frequently so just have one bike (a tri bike). I was thinking that if I got the electronic tri shifters that I could also run my tri bike as a road bike (just for very casual group rides) but I can buy an ok road bike and pay for it to be shipped internationally quite a few times before I hit $4,000.

Try it with some nice thick winter gloves on. There is a reason pro’s asked for a stronger spring in the Campy "Red " group. They wanted to FEEL the actuation.

electronic cranks are next!

I tried at Interbike and recently actually got to ride the Shimano rep’s bike with the electronic dura ace. The shifting is extremely impressive, especially the front which shifts better than any other system under load that I have ever tried (including Campy, DA 7900 and SRAM). Its only a 70g weight disadvantage over DA standard which IMO is negligable I also like the option of being able to shift from the brake levers, such as when going into a corner, but… 4K+ is a lot to swallow.
I still think its the future of shifting, although it may take a while to come down to affordable levels.

Awesome idea! We can finally get those pesky legs out of the wind!

Here are the prices. I will check the weights on Monday at the shop.
STI levers $930.00, rear derailleur $895.00, front derailleur $750.00 braze on, front cable $175.00, rear cable $280.00,powercable for charger $9.99, battery $100.00, extra battery and charger $120.00

What are you going to say when Campy puts theirs out?

That is what Mavic said…in 1993.

Ahh. Beat me to it. Remember Mavic ZAP.

Electronic shifting. Silly.

We’ll all probably say it isn’t as good as SRAM’s version.

My fondest memory of that stuff is Tony Rominger using it on his bike at the Tour of Spain, and the system shorting out during of the TTs leaving him stuck in his 12t cog. He still managed to win that TT.

Hello Wheeliedave and All,

I added up $3160 for the setup - is that correct?

Cheers,

Neal

Hell, I was doing support at RAAM and our rider had two bikes with Zap on it…what a damn nightmare. Water, batteries and thin power cords are a WRECK on a bicycle - period.

Well that was a semi guess at pricing using our cost and looking at Competitive Cyclist prices. We will contact SAC later today and see if they have a MSRP.If I was way off you can always edit a post.
