Electric Campagnolo group

According to a report published on Cycling News dated today (Apri 5), Campagnolo is experimenting with a fully electric groupset – both front and rear derailleurs. One team is already using the prototype, and a rider for that team has won a race this year using the group. Here is a link to the story with several photos:

Interesting, thanks for the link.

Hello,

They have been playing with that group for going on three years. Being Campy you can be sure of two things - if its released it will be reilable and it will be expensive.

If it does come out - who you want to bet has the first beta version of it? I will give you three guesses

Would that be “Record10Electric”?

Clever engineering. I hope it leads to something useful.

Because this sure is a great example of a ‘solution in desperate search of a problem’, i.e., lets add unnecessary weight and a battery and wires and servos and other crap (where there was none before) to do a miniscule amount of work that was previously done quite effortlessly and effectively by a huge and already installed powerplant–the rider!
