Eki on Brasstown and Tour de GA

Thanks to the guy who gave the advice on what to do to see that Stage of Tour de GA. Your advice was great. Man, it was cold on Sat. Snow in April is amazing in the south. It was 72 degrees on Friday in NC. I was at the section they call “the wall” going up. We had a fire going as well as 2 other groups of people had fires. We camped out for 4 hours! But still it was worth it for the 1 min of watching Danielson, Levi, Floyd, Lance, Jullich and then Eki. I just think this guy (eki) is so interesting. How many guys are there out there competing like him at 39? I have a great picture of him (unfortunately not a digital) as he was about where I had chalked in “EKI” on the road. We also got a picture of Lance sitting on Floyd’s wheel. A little blurry but man you can see them suffering. Some of Floyd’s family most have walked up the mountain we saw some ladies in the Mennonite head wear coming up. They were in skirts and most have been freezing. And Bobby Jullich. he was easy to recongnize. I had to be told that Levi was in 2nd. I still think of him in Rabobank colors for some reason. The crowd was pretty wild and very very cold! They tried to clear us away but it was single file for the lead guys coming up. Never thought I’d be a bike geek like this. If I can get the picture scanned I’ll try to post it of Ekimov.

We saw the sweeper van coming up behind the last guy. People were giving him pushes up the mountain. That was interesting to see. A guy would start running besided some one and they’d ask you want a push. Never heard a one of them say no. And then There was one group that all but one guy was getting a push and the rider was saying" where’s my push?"

Elvis is alive and was on the mountain. None of our pictures of him came out. The guy actually road up the mountain in costume and then walked back down entertaining everyone. And getting some free beers along the way. He made it up “the wall” on his bike which was impressive.
