Doing the world police fire games Sunday in NYC, right when Irene Is supposed to be in full force. Hope they don’t cancel it. Any tips for riding in wet conditions with 50+ mph winds? At what point is it too windy?
I think that might be one scenario where a disc is NOT faster!
I’m using 808 firecrests so I’m good ![]()
.
One year the Bud Light USTS race on Hilton Head Island was hit by a hurricane right before the event. The swim was crazy. There were huge rollers- at one time I was looking down on the deck of one of the safety boats. The water was filled with debris- lots of lumber, pieces of boards, general flotsam. Visibility was like swimming in brown caulking.
It was nuts. We made it, but it was nuts.
Good luck in your race Sir.
Fireman tri in west kennebunk, maine is “supposed” to be my first race of the season.
Irene is casting a long shadow on that.
Oh yeah and I’ve gone from mildly vexed that the P3 would not be ready for the race to wondering if I should go with my R3 or my 29er for the bike.
Might want to leave your goggles on for the bike.
Cool, You’ll get to podium. Being the only one out there, you’re guaranteed at least second or third.
I’m actually excited! Those fireman pansies will probably stay home. Gold for me!
On a side note I paid efing 150$ to put my bike on the airplane. They better not cancel.

The flight or the race?
Flights are being cancelled and/or re-routed all weekend into/out of NYC.
I’m actually on the plane now.
Might want to leave your goggles on for the bike.
^ Win!
Hah if they cancel I will ride with you. A bit more inland though. Where are you staying?
Hey, are you racing? I’m staying in time square. What’s the weather like now? People making a bigger deal out of it than it is?
Also we give so much crap to the fire boys here in orange county because they don’t do anything other than clean and play volley ball. Much respect to you nyfd guys though. Seriously…
We have a storm going on here 45 minutes south of NYC. Butnlooks like the back edge and front edge are going to sweep the coast. They are worried about the flood waters backing up the Hudson and flooding Manhattan.
I am in Trenton N.J. Not FDNY. Not racing because of injury and the added fee they were asking. The one they would not charge again if you did more then one sport.
Damn! I hope it works out for you guys. I know one of the guys who organized these games. A huge undertaking. He’s been at it for years.
Best of luck to all of those involved. Be safe, have fun and thanks for the work you do.
No disc for sure and keep your aero helmet and goggles on the run.
They just cancelled the Annapolis 10 Miler, so I’d guess events up the coast are next. With the track now projected more inland, it’s gonna be ugly.
