Erased by OP cause it might be against the rules?
works every time as long as you put in a big enough max bid.
x2 on e-snipe. I use it all the time and works very well. I usually set my snipe for 4 seconds before auction end. 3 seconds will usually make it. 2 seconds is cutting it close.
X3 on esnipe. I use 1 second to bid and it works great. I scored a sweet mountain bike for $1233.00 after being outbid for weeks with self bidding. I just set my max and left it alone. Such a more peaceful existance!

I am pretty sure that it is against the rules of the forum to have such threads - but I aint going to re-check to find out (I am 99.9% sure)

Well, I got my answer, and to avoid the wrath of Dan, of course getting blocked from here might not be a bad thing, I will erase my post. But why would asking for recommendations about services be against the rules?
There was a rule about things to assist in downloading music/movies/software/software keys/promotional codes/ and on and on some months ago. Sniping is a volation of the eBay TOS…and thus, not in good form to post about.
Hi Dave, my name is Pot…I will now call the Kettle black.

WHAT sniping is not against the TOS, if it is how would it be worded. You are not allowed to bid in the last 5 sec of an auction?
You are not allowed to have a mechanical, or bid bot do it for you. I got my first ebay account suspended for that some years back. You are supposed to put in your HIGHEST bid and see how the cards fall. eBays rules, not mine. I did it on a pair of speakers - second bidder filed a complaint and I lost the auction and got my account killed…at such time I just opened up a new account. This was some 8 or so years ago however…but I doubt the rules changed.
Well I just looked over the rules, and user agreement and see nothing in there about it. Looking a these services, they snipe like 200,000 auctions a week.

Legality and acceptance by auction sites
While auction sniping is frowned upon by some people, it does not break any of the rules established by eBay. However, eBay Germany did ban sniping services in 2002.
A few other auction sites (such as iGavel, and the New Zealand auction site TradeMe) automatically extend the bid deadline by a few minutes if a bid is placed in the last moments of the auction to give other buyers time to react. Another possible method of sniping prevention is to end the auction at a random time (i.e. ending the auction at an undisclosed time in the last hour).
IMO, the sniping tools “now” are obsolete. They worked very well when ebay was new…and many bidders were rather numb/dumb to the process. Those were the days when high speed internet was mostly available at work, not home.
Rather of your view above, ebay is simple. The higher bid still wins. Doesn’t matter if it’s 3 seconds before auction end or 5 hours. Money trumps the last vote.
If you want that Soloist SLC, simply pony up the highest bid. Many incrementally bid on auction, which is really what drives up the price via emotional purchases. If I want something, I toss up my highest bid early in the auction and walk away. Never will take a 2nd look.
In the world of bike parts, often times the ending bid is actually higher than what you would pay on closeout via shopping on qbike or other search-related sites. Just make sure you click on the ST sponsors and check out any ST discounts. ;o)
Well all, Thanks it worked. The Whalers won the hockey game. And I won the Auction while I was away.
Campy Cassette, NIB $27. Only place I can find them selling it they wanted $60.
Diesel. Sniping works cause LOTS of people still do not use proxy biding, and you can come in at the end and steal things.
Yup, if your willing to risk getting bumped. Put in your Max bid and walk away.
Sniping services I used esnipe this time, but may try gixen some time. Its totally free.
Really snipping service like Gixen is no different then putting in your bid and walking away. Only difference is your max bid will not be submitted until moments before it ends so you can not be run up.
Another HUGE feature is grouping. If there are multiple listings for the same item and you only want one of them, you group them and it will bid on the first one and if you lose it move to the second and third ect… till your group is empty or you have won the quantity you wanted.
If e-Bay didn’t want esnipe to work, all they’d have to do is set their servers to ignore traffic from e-snipe’s servers. Problem solved.
I’ve completed over 2,000 e-bay transactions and most buys have been done with esnipe, and I’ve been using it for probably 8 years now. I’ve had two missed auctions and both were because I set the time at 2 seconds or less.
