Yes, that much crab would get rather expensive. And how do you store the butter?
To actually answer the question, no I don’t eat most of my calories, but I do short distances and just go with drink and sometimes gels.
Are you trying to get your carbs from a solid. if not you can look into carbopro or infinit or something else that also has alot of carbs. liquids are a bit faster and easier to digest. i have been using carbopro with nuun mixed for flavor and have had alot of luck. i just make one bottle for long rides and nurse it throughout the ride.
I don’t know if it works out to 1g per whatever… but during my IM training I was trying to push 350-400 calories per hour on the bike.
I did that with a mixture of Gatorade (powder is cheaper), Perpetuum, a couple gels (usually freebies from races or bought in bulk on sale from Performance), a clif bar (200 calories per bar, purchased in bulk from Costco), etc.
There are also recipes for making your own energy bars. I’m not sure if that actually works out to be cheaper.
I wanted to accomplish two nutritional things during training a) train my stomach to be able to handle just about anything I throw at it and b) train on things you’re likely to find on course so I don’t have to bring my own. After reading the NO70.3 thread I might have been out of luck, but every other race I’ve attended has been adequately stocked with the promised brands.
Must…
