I just got a new frame and I need a new fork. I’m partial to the reynolds forks b/c they do everything right but the new easton slx 300g fork has my attention. Anyone have one of these. Is it worth jumping the reynolds ship? -Thanks
What is the new frame?
martec r102 monocoque carbon. i.e. scattante CFR or EPX or bpstealth carbon frame. a bargain basement carbon frame. 3.2lbs. stealth black, no labels.
I’d say give the Easton a shot then. I’d guess that the shapes will go together nicely. Plus the Easton has a subtle appeal to it, the Reynolds is a little over-stated.
I have the BP Stealth BP-2 frame and it uses the stock BP fork (same fork as Cervelo’s “Chord” fork on the P2K and P3). BP calls it the FTT fork with a 43mm rake offset, and it seems to work really well. I’d spring for an aero fork though, it definitely does make a difference over the standard shapes.
I have a hard time figuring out why you would buy the $400 cheapie no-name no-warranty version of the frame and then a $400 fork to go with it though…when the BP with fork is less than $900.
get the best of both worlds, the reynolds pro peleton . . .
