Easton EC90 Attack Aerobar? Anyone try it?

Greetings. I was wondering if anyone has tried the Easton one-piece aerobar? How does it compare to the HED or Carbon X??
Thanks,
HC

I used it. It was good. Hed is better.

Here’s a picture from a race I did last year with them on my bike. I liked them They were OK. Now I use Visiontech. http://images.snapfish.com/342%3B985523232fp58%3Dot>2337%3D736%3D376%3DXROQDF>2323669<27738ot1lsi

Here was my big beef with these: You could not cut them to length. That is, you could not cut the aero extension of the bars to length you (or the customer) desired. The aero extensions pointed up pretty substantially too, a bit long for most people’s taste.

The brake lever required some tricky work to install the return spring. It works fine, but is tricky to do on your first one.

The base bars and the rest of the bar are atellar, and the finish absolutely beautiful. I think they will likely die a slow death though at the hands of more adaptable products like Hed, which can be trimmed, cut, changed and adjusted extensively. I like having that flexibility.

You can cut down the extensions on the Visiontechs too.

The wind tunnel results on both the Easton and Hed bars, as well as others is available on Kraig Willet’s pay site.

I had a pair of Medium Attack bars and the extensions were too long so I got a small. The small was better but I still didn’t like the height of the extensions and they’re not very aero. Bottom line: I sold my attack bars and went with HED. I think most people will agree the Hed bars are all around better bars in regards to aerodynamics and adjustability. They’re also cheaper. I will say the attack bars were beautifully made and the Hed bars do look a bit spartan in comparison.

I would not recommend the attack bars. There are too many other one-piece areobars out there that are better and cheaper (e.g. Hed, Oval A900 (same as Hed), visiontech, Profile Carbon X). Easton did come out with a new aero bar (I think it’s called Delta Force w/ Aero Force extensions) that look pretty cool. They’re more adjustable and I think they’re lighter also.

I saw this race, if they were only ok, how come you never bothered to enter your shoes?
