EASTON EA90 stem question

Looking for some advice/help.
It is a 4 bolt clamp. Should the 2 on the top be touching? Then clamp down on the bottom 2? Or do you leave some space on all 4 and try to get even space between all the bolts? They are used with an EASTON EC90 SLX road bar.
Thanks.

most 4 bolt clamp stems are designed to have even gaps at all four bolts. a few unusual ones (a ritchey model comes to mind) have no gaps on the upper two bolts and equal gaps on the lower two.

this stem seems to have a somewhat unusual design, so i would ask easton for the real info before installing.

Equal Spacing.

what MOP Mike said, equal pressure, and alternately tighten all bolts. ideally, pressure would be equal at all 4 points…

Thanks for the advice and link.
