Easing back in after hernia surgery

I had a hernia surgery last spring and after a brief recovery period did four triathlons this summer. At the end of the summer another hernia appeared and on Dec 15th I had yet another surgery. I have been taking it easy and not doing anything at all - my orders are not to lift anything over 10 pounds for 6 weeks. This means I am two weeks away from being able to start up again. Should I wait longer? The doctor said it was fine to resume normal training but I’m not sure he really understands what I’m talking about. Which of the three sports do you think is easiest on the abs (the last surgery was umbilical)? I am tempted to set up my trainer and start cycling gently in a low gear while sitting upright. I am a swimmer by nature but am worried that will be too much abdominal stress. I generaly hate running but am wondering if I could get away with some gentle ‘jogging’

Any thoughts? Anyone have any experience with hernias?
