i’m looking for 3 early season olympic/sprint races (before july 1) on the east coast, preferably northeast, with at least 500 racers. i know columbia and mooseman olympic would work. obviously, this is to get my “pro” card.
thanks
also fwiw, i don’t want sponsorship…i just want to race

Columbia is sold out, so unless you already registered or have connections…
I think you are SOL on races that large, that early. Nothing in NY/NJ metro area down through Delaware.
Long Island Gold Coast Sprint in June. The swim is disgusting, the bike course is two loops through an industrial park, and the run is pretty boring, BUT it usually gets about 900+ people and it’s a short, fast race, so you can get it done and it’s basically just a short workout. It was the #3 race I used to get my pro card. It’s not a “nice” race, but it meets your requirements.
Can I ask why July 1st is the deadline. Are you trying to get in the Des Moines World Cup?
My advice is to plan on doing at least 5 races to get your pro card. Remember, it needs to be top 8 and within 8% of the winners time, so if somebody really good shows up, you could get screwed. I know that has happened a few times for some friends of mine in the midwest.
it’s a nice deadline for myself before the mussleman pan am race and the couple of pan am races in august in canada that i’d like to do this year. i’m not even thinking world cup yet. let me try my hand at the pan am/cont. cup races first.
Check out www.setupevents.com and look at some of the North Carolina Triathlon Series (NCTS) races. Azalea, White Lake and Tri Latta should all have over 500 participants. The kicker is if you want to do Azalea or Latta, you’ll need to sign up on January 2nd.
The Set Up races are all put on well and if you have some specific questions, let me know.
