Next weekend is my first half ironman and I had a few questions. Sorry for being totally noob…
-
If the race is Sunday, do you take care of tire pressure, chain and all the goodies during the bike rack or during the race day
-
During T1 and T2, are there bags with your goodies. The reason I ask is that I am looking to take some endurolytes, etc. before the next leg.
-
For the bike, are you allowed to dismount with your cleats still in
-
I have seen it at Kona but when coming into T2, do you rack your own bike (just wondering). Not like I care.
-
Special needs are for full ironmans, correct? I am completely unsure but the distances for halves dont seem far enough.
Anyways, just wanted to be prepared. I appreciate anyone who replies to the noob channel. THanks!

YOU JUST RACK THE BIKE ON SATURDAY, BUT YOU SET UP TRANSITION ON SUNDAY AND THE ONLY THING YOU SHOULD NEED TO DO TO THE BIKE IS TOP OFF YOUR TIRE PRESSURE. I’D SUGGEST BRINGING YOUR PUMP WITH YOU UNLESS YOU WANT TO EITHER STAND IN LINE FOR ONE OR ASK AROUND FOR ONE.

YOU’LL HAVE YOUR STUFF AT YOUR BIKE RACK. THEY DON’T PROVIDE BAGS, SO YOU’LL JUST HAVE THEM SITTING ON THE GROUND AT YOUR RACK.

PRETTY SURE IT’S FINE TO DISMOUNT WITH THE SHOES STILL ON THE BIKE, BUT IF YOU’RE WEARING SOCKS, REMEMBER EAGLEMAN HAS A GRASS TRANSITION AND IF THE GROUND IS WET, YOUR SOCKS ARE GOING TO GET WET RUNNING ACROSS THE GRASS WITH YOUR BIKE IF YOU LEAVE YOUR SHOES ON THE PEDALS.

NOT IN A 1/2 IM.

NO SPECIAL NEEDS, BUT PLENTY OF AID STATIONS ON THE COURSE.

GOOD LUCK!
Awesome reply. I appreciate the info!
No problem. One thing…if rain is in the forecast, bring plenty of trash bags to put all your stuff in at transition (running shoes, nutrition, etc.) so it doesn’t get soaked while you’re racing.
