E-Caps Sustained Energy and ATP-100

Anybody figured out how to deal with Sustained Energy settling to the bottom of a water battle so quickly?

ATP-100 anybody got experience with it? does it cause a big spike in energy? Just as big a crash?

thanks

Jim

easy, give all your sustained energy away and buy some tasty perpetuem:) That’s what I did, tastes better and doesn’t spoil or settle as fast.

Tai,

I just got some Perpetum, but cannot seem to get it thoroughly mixed - stays lumps.

How much do you add to a stardard water bottle?

I use it as a pre-ride meal replacement for longer rides, so I’m mixing it in higher concentrate (2 scoops for 1/2 bottle). I’ve found that mixing it in a 1/2 full bottle makes it easier to mix. I also mix it the night before and a quick shaking of the bottle in the morning ensures that any overnight settling is eliminated. Doing this, I’ve never noticed any clumping or chunks in the drink.

Mark, I mix two scoops to a bottle and have never had any problems. For Keauhou I had 6 scoops in a bottle and just watered it down in my aero bottle at aid stations. Never had mixing problems before… A little unmixed is normal but if it’s a lot I’m not sure what is going on. Tai

Is ATP-100 really a pill with pre-formed ATP? That’s silly… dont waste your money.

Do you have any relevant information to impart or did you just pull that opinion out of your butt?

After looking at some of the tri coach bios listed on E-caps I saw the product listed under a few of them. A couple of said coaches are also regualr posters here.

I was hoping for something a bit more critical and informative than “that’s silly…”

I shouldn’t be so flippant, but it’s been one of those days.

The rationale is that ATP is so highly reactive it would never survive long enough to be taken into any cells. The body does a pretty good job of generating intracellular ATP from food sources - it’s better to stick to that.

OK, here’s what the people at Hammer told me about Perpeteum, they don’t use it to drink. Take 6-8 scoops, mix with a little water, and add hammer gel, and make a paste out of it. Use it instead of just gel for long course tris. Just make sure the consistency is enough that you can squeeze it through the gel flasks. Packs quite a caloric whop. Been using it on training rides/runs and it works great. I prefer apple cinnamon gel, so using that makes the paste taste like my pancake batter, which is pretty damn good.

The problem I can see with ATP-100 if it is actually just ATP is I don’t really think it would be digestable as it is. Sugars and other carbon sources were meant to be ingested, as were amino acids, and therefore can be used in the body. ATP on the other hand is produced intracellularly by oxidative phosphorylation in our mitochondria and not taken up from food. I don’t know if ATP, which is used as energy going from Adenosine-triphosphate to Adenosine diphosphate, would survive the acidic stomach environment.
