Ok, guys. My gf left me short of cash this month since her visit so tonight I am staying in with a dvd. Bare in mind that we are about 6 months behind you guys with film releases, what would you recommend in the action/thriller stakes? To give you an idea of style of film for me I loved Layer Cake (I strongly recommend it), Collateral was good, Terminal, not so good.
Gve me two suggestions each, in case Blockbusters are short, or I’m reading Lee Child tonight.
Good suggestion, but I have seen both many times, thanks. Which did you prefer? I don’t think she got in, but Sparticus the guru there and could probably correct me!
La Femme Nikita, The Professional (I think it is Leon in Europe), Fifth Element, The Transporter (not as good as the other three, but pretty good).
La Femme Nikita, The Professional and Fifth Element are great, and Gary Oldman is in the last two. FE also has Mila Jovovich (?), Bruce Willis, and Chris Tucker (but it is good anyway ) The Professional has the French guy who was also in Ronin…Jean Reno (had to google it) and a very young Natalie Portman. La Femme Nikita just plain kicks ass it is so good.
Transporter is the only one I haven’t seen, and I didn’t realise it was a LB film. I will age myself by admitting to seeing Leon in the cinema when it was released over here, and being blown away by Jean Reno’s understated performance. Although, I hadn’t realised that it was Natalie Portman in the role of the abused child.
“Undisputed” was a very underated movie that slipped through. I highly recommend giving it a viewing.
Some old school stuff (as in not in the last twelve monthes), all three Terminators, both Predators, Blade, Equilibrium, both Rush Hours, I’ll second the Italian Job, also consider U.S. Marshels, and The Fugitive.
