Doing Dutchman for the first time next Saturday and was wondering if anybody had some info on the race.
They list a challenging hill on the run course but don’t give it much description. I’m guessing from the context that the hill is about a mile long at a decent grade.
Any feedback or info would be great.
I am also looking forward to the pastries, beer, and girls in milk maid outfits.
I thought it was a pretty tough race, but then I had only been to the pool twice by that time and had been running and biking, but not extensively. Nonetheless, I strongly believe that if they could have made the swim uphill, they would have! The bike was constant rollers and the run was more of a mix. Until The Hill. You go off of the blacktop path to the highway and “run” up the hill that never ends. Turnaround is near the top. But, you’re not done with the hills - if I remember right, there was another winding one on the paved trail and another grassy one on the way into the finish. Lots of serious competition there, as U of I and ISU tri clubs were prevelant. Best of luck!
