If you really are unhappy about too many threads with the same topic or about the same person, you should not go and start a new thread pointing out the obvious. Plus you are not helping the situation, instead you are contributing to what you are complaining about.
Thus we deleted a whole bunch of Lance threads today and we are most likely not yet done.
I think everyone should be made to take a search function class before they can post. You should also institute some way that their thread is automatically deleted if they didn’t search first.

That’d cut out 95% of the crap on here.
Without the 95% of the crap what would we talk about?
I think the duplication problem would in part be solved if the forum was organized into categories pertaining to common themes (e.g., Swim technique, Bike training, Equipment, etc.) that people can enter and more easily find threads that address their questions. Other forums do this so I’m curious why this one doesn’t, broad categories notwithstanding. I’m sure there’s a good reason…

In turn, that would really help to keep that darned advertising revenue down too.

I dunno, Brian. I got called out on that on another forum. The conversation went like this.
“Hey, why don’t you try the search function?”
“Because I don’t feel like it. Why don’t you shut up?”
The fastest way to kill a duplicate thread - before it grows legs - is for one of the regulars to simply nip it in the bud. Run a quick search of the topic, then post the results link to the OP. If they or anyone else continues to add boneheaded remarks/questions then simply reply with the link. People that are genuinely looking for an answer will get what they came for. Those looking to perpetuate idiocy will (hopefully) leave in disgust.

7.2% of the crap on here is you writing, “Ho hum, we discussed this back in the good ol’ days of 2008 when I was a member and you weren’t. Use the search button, idiot.”
The Lavender Room is another issue all together, and one that might best be solved by actually deleting the whole room.
Why would you want to delete a space that gets your business lots of hits, and is fully voluentary if people cant handle it they can leave, deleting forces all to leave… I miss Chainpin that was a crash I was waiting to see.
