There is one of those parked on the street outside my office window right now. (It’s out there most days.) My Volvo V40 wagon is two spaces over…

Wow, any idea who owns it? He (she) must be big time?

Transmission:

Automatic

On a Ferrari???

Nahhh, that’s definitely not the way to go!!!

“9,000 carefully driven miles”

LMFAO - Only redlined every OTHER green light

It’s the F1 transmission… the paddles on the wheel shift up and down.

You are definitely misled. The “automatic transmission” they refer too is modeled after formula 1 cars, you shift with the paddle-shifters behind the steering wheel without any clutch necessary. It’s a very slick setup and has been duplicated on many of the exotics.

The latest issue of Excellence mentions several Carrare GT owners are not happy because the clutch is too sharp, which along with the very low front clearance makes it a difficult to drive street car. Actually, that much performance on the street is silly anyway except for bragging rights. Not one guy in 1000 has the driving experience to appreciate the difference between the Carrera GT and a $45,000 corvette. And even if he could get to that performance, he could never do it safely or within reasonable risks of being put in jail. Even my 996 is difficult to put to the test on the street…on my daily drive to work I am above the speed limit in about 3 seconds, but most often just stuck behind other traffic, so most of time I drive my old 94 BMW. Can’t imagine why anyone would want to drive a Carrera GT to work every day. Maybe it is a kit car duplicate?

You buy a RED Ferrari or a SILVER Porsche…

Dapper Dan,

Going to Hershey? My wife and I might go in my 986 since I live so close.

I’d love to but it’s a long drive from Phoenix. I had a Boxster for about 3 days, unfortunatley I bought it from a dealer used and it had a number of problems so I had to return it. Handled better than the Carrera though. The tough thing now is trying to decide whether to buy upgrades for my bike or my car…so far the bike has been winning!

There is only ONE color for a Ferrari…Red…Period.

Chipper–Aren’t you supposed to be driving around the country with your girlfriend?

I have to disagree, the best color for a Ferrari is Fly Yellow. I rented a 355 Spyder in Vegas with my brother. Drove to Flagstaff, AZ and back in one day. “If you have the means, I highly recommend one”

Well, acutally, they’re not completely misled. You can get the traditional, manual 6 speed (using the new 430 as my example) or you can get the F1 paddle-shifting, manual transamission, which also has the option of switching to a fully-automatic, computer-driven transmission that is engaged by a button on the center console.

Just got back - I decided on the Utah - Colorado part of the drive that I would like to do the drive again in the Turbo car or even better, a new car - Ferrari would be perfect, of course the new Lambo Gillardo is suspect as well. I am waiting to hear more about that car.

Nice ride I have a customer that has one he let me take out for a spin. His 360 has the paddle shifters but the button to switch to automatic. I will say the paddle shifters take a second to get use to. God help you if you drop the hammer and don’t let off the gas when shifting from 1st to second. Fun ride and sounds great. There’s nothing like hitting 100mph on the onramp to the interstate. Makes merging with traffic interesting
