Dumb and Dumber To review

Not as good as the original, but my perpetually 15 year old brain liked it. A couple of scenes were classic Farrelly Bro.s funny as shit.

Good to hear. The original critic reviews have been horrible but they generally suck at gauging successful comedies. I’ve also seen some reviews from sites I’d generally trust that pan the movie, but others have said it’s solid.

My one worry is that I’ll come away with the same impression one reviewer did, that it’s not funny and is generally unsettling because Carrey and Daniels are 57; when they were in their 30’s it was just two harmless dummies but in their 50’s it comes off as sad and pathetic. I don’t know, I’m trying to keep my expectations super low.

I aimed low, I was expecting to be sorely disappointed but had 5-6 genuine laugh out loud moments. I’ll rewatch it a few times when it hit cable/netflix.

ETA: I was disappointed Seabass didn’t make an appearance.

Why did you leave before the credits were over?

Wife had to pee. I’ve since heard there is an additional scene, I’m guess that was it.

I’m pretty sure the original got horrible reviews when it first came out too.

That being said, that movie really did have a huge impact on my generation. Go up to anyone in their 30’s and say “Austria? Let’s throw another shrimp on the barbee!” and you will be sure to get a laugh.

I’m going to see the new one with a buddy I grew up and watched the original with probably a dozen times when we were younger. Not expecting greatness, but I’m sure it will have its moments.

I love the original. I can quote most of it. This one was monumentally bad. I’m so disappointed. I know comedy is hard but man, I think I could have come up with a better story and a few more gags on my own.

I have to re-watch the original now to get the stink of this one off me. I feel like they ruined a piece of my childhood.

I thought Jim & Jeff did an admirable job. They pulled off the characters again but there wasn’t much to work with. Lots of awkward pauses between and during scenes. Bad writing, bad editing, too much Kathleen Turner.

This one is making a ton of $ so maybe there will be a #3. I hope so.

Cam Neely thinks he’s the shit and demanded top billing rights and $20 millions to reprise his role.

The original is one of my all-time favorite movies and I don’t know that I want to spoil it by seeing the sequel. I’ve heard some people say it is hysterical but have heard more say that it sucked.

As for Cam, there was a rumor flying around locally earlier this year when the sequel was being filmed that Milan Lucic was going to be in it as well, playing Sea Bass’ son. I don’t know that they ever filmed it but the story made the rounds on more than a few media outlets. Lucic did get a chance to drive the van used in both movies as it was in town a few weeks ago for a promotional appearance prior to the premiere.

so now I’ve been rick rolled !

I had heard the Sea Bass is in the scene after the credits.

I haven’t seen it yet.

My good friend is Billy in 4c.

Everytime I drive into Colorado and say, “That John Denver’s full of shit!”
.

I just thought he was really quiet!

Pretty bird…pretty bird…

The original was a huge movie in my reckless youth. Love it. Having said that I will not be seeing this one until it hits DVD. Always get a little concerned when films don’t get reviewed until days leading up to the release. Granted critics are largely just bitter failed (enter whatever artistic endeavor here) so I’m not talking about the actual reviews just the timing of them.

Having said all that I have no doubt I’ll enjoy it as a home movie just have to be super picky when it comes to our chances to see movies in the theater

I have completely lost my tolerance for going to movies with the out of control rudeness of patrons. Non-stop talking, phones going off, kids incessant crying w/o the parent taking them out of the theater. This is why Netflix is a staple in my home now we love it. Sure I have to wait, but it’s no different than using a DVR so you can watch commercial free tv. Just adjust your schedule. We are not even caught up to 2011 yet with movies and this DnD2 will be on Netflix long b/f we ever get to 2014 offerings.

I have pretty much relegated myself to Star Trek releases in IMAX for my movie dollars.

That’s not a Rick Roll! Its 10 hours straight of the most annoying sound in the world set to Poker Face by Lady Gaga! Brilliant video!! I like to turn my speakers up and play the video and then lock my computer and walk away Good times!

We’re the same. Historically the wife and I would always to go movies at the super early showings, like 10am, just to avoid the crowds. Maybe I’m too much of a misenthrope but being crammed into a theater with hundreds of folk with various nuances is just not my scene.

I prefer going the Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Prime route for pretty much everything. The big upside is on TV shows you actually enjoy. If you’re patient enough you can just crack out on them vs being dripped 20 minute chunks every 7 days.

Oh also 2 movies seen in IMAX the past decade. Star Trek Into the Darkness (which was just bad ass in that format), and The Dark Knight Rises. Keeping the bar high for that
sort of thing.

DnD2 I’ll enjoy but would not next to the version(s) of Skipjack that was 10-15 years ago in a theater…clanking beer bottles…out loud dick jokes etc. I prefer to clank beer bottles and make dick jokes int he privacy of my own home anymore
