Its actually real. It was also aired on the discovery channel in one of their crash montages. It shows the aftermath and the guy survived. He had several broken bones and his bike was thrashed, but he lived. Unless the discovery channel lied to me, this was real.

I’ve ridden this trail in Moab. Its been a while but the pucker factor was high. There’s a sign a little further up from where these dudes are that reads ‘walk your bike
in this section because x number of people have fallen’. Intense
hike a bike because there were boulders in the way when I was there that you’d have
to of done trials to get through. That cliff is a sheer forty feet maybe, lots of exposure. Dude had sand to give it a go, sucks it was a fail. Pretty old video tho.
