Duathlons?

I am looking for any information for a “newbie” wanting to do more duathlons!! I have been looking for a forum on the internet specifically related to “duathletes”, but I have not come across any? I did spot a iron half duathlon which caught my eye! I am in the midst of setting a goal for 2008 and after watching two Ironman’s the past couple months, I have decided I wanted to set a goal for a long distance duathlon. Now, I need to find one that isn’t too far away and that I will be able to conquer.

If anyone has any information that they could send my way, I would greatly appreciate it.

www.duathlon.com ?

Eric Schwartz is the owner of the site and is a wealth of info.

check out trifind.com, they list triathlons, but I have found some duathlons that have been really nice. Where are you located?

Thanks! I did go here, but the posts I found were old? I will do some more search here, thanks!

As for races, michigan has a ton of duathlons. Check out www.3disciplines.com. They put on a bunch of races and all their Tris have a du running also. They also run a 1/2 iron duathlon. I haven’t done it myself but did their previous one in Oscoda and it was a fun but challenging race. Also the RD Kenny Krell is good about answering his email if you have questions on his races.

Thanks, I will look this website up! Unfortunately, I am living in Michigan, but originally from “buckeye state”…go bucks!!

Thanks Jim, I appreciate the information you provided! I do know about 3disciplines.com

Here are two long-distance du’s that will kick your butt:

October in New York is American Zofingen. Have not done it yet (planning on it this year), but by all accounts, it is epic. 5 mile trail run, 84 miles of mountains and then 15 miles of trail running.

May in Nor California. World’s Toughest Half–Du version. Did this earlier this year and it was easily the toughest half-Iron type effort I have tried. First trail run is all ups and downs, the ride is relentlessly hilly and has a net elevation gain of about 1,000 feet and the run is half trail, half pavement and again, all up and down.

Thanks Chad!! I don’t see me going to that extreme yet;) WOW, it sure does sound pretty darn grueling…ouch!! Good luck!!
