Downpour yesterday from mile 3-8 left running shoes water logged. Whats the best way to dry running shoes as to not damage the glue or last and keep the cushioning properties?
Stuff them with newspaper and leave them in a warm, dry place like near the furnace, in the drying room. Do not place them in direct contact with anything hot, otherwise it may cause the sole to come unglued.
Ditto the newspaper stuffing and warm dry place. I used to put mine on top of the dryer while it was running, or in front of the freezer in the garage (where the warm air comes out from the motor). Change the crumpled newspaper every couple of hours until it stops being soaked.
Do exactly what jk_allen13 says. That is the correct way. Don’t d what Greg LeMond did one year at a stage of the Giro when he put his shoes in the oven and melted them.
Good job there was no microwave available back then!
The newspaper trick works, but I’ve found that it’s much faster and simplier to put them in front of a fan. Just prop them up against a wall, point a fan at them, and leave it. They’ll be dry soon, and drier than with newspapers.

Yes, newspaper, in a warm room with a fan blowing over them. Make sure you stuff them well, sometimes shoes will shrink if you try to dry them to quickly.
This is the only way to have dry shoes if it rains in the middle of a stage race
