I don’t imagine there are a lot of dream interpreters on this forum, but I think dreams can help us understand our own sports psychology – or at least, be entertaining. so last night (after an evening of tough track work, followed by beer) i dreamt that two of my teeth fell out, and I know that’s a rerun of dreams I’ve had before. any thoughts on what this means?
Hmmm, in times of stress I’ve had lots of tooth or teeth dreams & or flying dreams. I would dream of my teeth falling out etc. Two nights ago I dreamt I was stuck in a wet suit and had to go to the bathroom. I’ve been having G.I. issues so that’s probably why. I woke up with a stomachache.
Clearly, it means you are gay.
ha! this could be good news, I’ll never have to worry about men again… now I have to break the news to that guy i’ve been dating, hope he’s not too mad.
ha… lol
All the ST pervs love you now
.

That was a running joke with my friends in high school. Any time anyone told us about a dream the response was “latent homsexuality” even if the dream was clearly a very hetero erotic dream. I still think of this whenever anyone talks about a dream.
A recurring dream that I have had over the years is that in the organized chaos of an IM race morning I have arrived at the race start without something critical - wetsuit, googles etc . . and in the frantic search the gun goes off and I miss the start!
Did I mention that in all my years in this great sport I loathed swimming!

Yes, I’ve had a variation on that one – that a race course goes inside a building and I can’t find my way out of it. Or that I realize I’m racing in a pair of jeans and can barely move.
I don’t want to steal the thread, but …
I have recurring dreams that I’m in a Swedish bathhouse with Elton John, Ricky Martin, all the guys in Queer Eye For the Straight Guy, and George Michael. We’re all wearing thongs and those little tri man-bras. And we’re eating bananas.
Any thoughts on what this might mean? I’m stumped.
Oddly enough I have that same dream. Only Bjorn and Tom are there as well.
I have loose teeth dreams when I’m stressed. I think it’s fairly common. Dentist says it’s from unconcious clenching and grinding the teeth at night. It got to the point in grad school that I’d dream about spitting out shards of teeth, and spend all day trying to wiggle my teeth to check if they were still loose.
advice is to get a night guard for your mouth to sleep with (your dentist can make you one, basically a thin plastic mouthgaurd) that will prevent you from grinding at night. also figure out what is stressing you out and deal with it. quitting grad school worked for me.

Interesting. I think I must be stressed out by all the homophobia in the world. I’ll feel better when gay marriage is finally legal. Or, maybe I’m just stressed because they’re doing work in my building and my apt is now infested with roaches!
No joke - Freud believed that dreams wherein one’s teeth fell out (and the extraction of them) were symbols of castration as a punishment for masturbating.
