Dream (road) bike decision made and it's on the way

I went for the Look KG 386i. Good geometry for me (72.5 degrees is little more slack seat tube than I’m used to, but I will adopt a little slacker position for a road racing frame). Yes it’s a road frame. It’s a pared down version of the KG 486, with the following description: “Its triangular top tube, diagonal downtube, and aerodynamically minded seat tube is noticeably less oversized than the 486. It’s built more for comfort for longer, endurance-oriented rides and races. The more minimalistic tubing gives it a less explosive power transfer, but an overall smoother ride.”

That’s pretty much exactly what I’m looking for. A few different reviews gave it high marks and confirmed the ride description. Getting the black-and-white version 'cuz it’s all that’s left. Pictures soon…

Ummm…wow!!

Congrats and good luck!! She’s a beauty…

Yes, I now have much jealousy. Awsome frame, I really like the black and white.

Great looking bike! It should be a real winner for you…Congratulations!

absolutley beautiful. I want one !!

Nice.

nice choice. looks are great bikes.

Oh my…beautiful!!!

Outstanding purchase. The envy of all roadies. The “P3C” of road bikes that does exist. Bravo.

Personally, I’m in lust of a 486. My buddy is the Look rep and I still can’t afford one! ;o) urghhh. I found one in my size (here, btw), but the steerer was a lil short.

When are you getting it? You MUST post your review…

Congrats, drool, drool.

Wow, I had a Look KX lite last year before I got my R2.5. We sell a few Look frames a year, and I would like to sell more.

Look is one of the great “untold stories” in great bikes now. At one point, 20% of the riders in the Tour de France were on Look brand frames.

They are good bikes, and I bet you will love yours. Good choice.

Should have it early next week. The weather here will be crap for another month at least, so I’m not in a hurry to build it up. (Putting a ton of miles on my fixie - I love 10% grade at 42x16 without getting out of the saddle. Probably churning over at about 20 rpm.) It’ll give me time to decide what parts to buy - the angel on my right shoulder says “Be reasonable and get the Chorus group” but the devil on my left shoulder says “Don’t be a pussy. Record. Zero Gravity. FSA.” I’m pretty sure I know who will win.

Honestly, it is pretty tough to tell the difference between Record and Chorus. I’ve got one Record group on my R2.5- the same group I had on my Look KX Lite.

I might buy a Chorus kit with compact Campag cranks for my new road bike.

Another bike Tom? Any ideas on what you will have this time? - I think I would be a very happy man living off your bike cast off’s:)

I pretty sure if I worked in a bike shop the temptation of trade prices would see my living of crusts and water.

Congrats!! I have a Look KG 381i w/ Campy Record 10. Love everything about the bike and the groupset. You are going to be very happy with your choice.

I’ve got a compact setup on another bike that I use for climbing and crits. I was going to go with a standard 53/39 setup on this bike, as I’ll use it primarily for long road races and training rides.

Actually, I looked at the Chorus kit pretty closely. The only piece of the Record kit that’s considerably more money is the rear derailleur. Strange.

man, this one is right at the top of the list for me too. A classic! I’m envious! Have fun.
