Doping, health, and getting cought

I cant understand Kraft and people like that. They know they will get cought if they use EPO and such yet they do it anyways. It makes no sense. From what I hear there are some drugs that wont give a positive test unless you are on them at the time. But they benifits only last during the time you are using them. My question is why wouldnt they use them during training to train harder then race clean. I know it wouldnt give the smae results but wouldnt it give you some results and not test positive?

What about health concerns, are all the durgs banned because they have health problems or just because of the advantages of performance?

I imagine that some of the dependence is psychological as well…in that they may believe taht they won’t perform well without it. also, I don’t know if these drugs are physically addicting or not, but am guessing they probably are. physical and emtional dependency wouldn’t enable a person to just go on and off of the juice.

How dangerous are these drugs - my sugestion is that if properly administed with expert medical backing (a la pro cycle teams and their associated medical staff) probably not as dangerous as you might think. If you look at the steroid issue in say recreational body building, pro football, those at risk seem to be the younger athletes coming through who don’t have access to the best medical advice.

Of course Flo Jo is an example that shoots the above argument in the foot. She never tested positive and certainly would have had the $$$ to afford the best medical advice but most people in hindsight would now think that she was juiced to the eyeballs. (10.49 sec would be like a guy running 9.6!)

Michelle Smith of Ireland the Olympic swimming sensation from Atlanta - only caught for tampering with a test - never tested positive during her greatest triumphs but as guilty as sin.
