When Obama decides to act like a man and debate Rush one on one things will get better. As long as he behaves like a pussy and does not show the testicular fortitide that one would expect is synonymous with the Office of the President of the Untied States, things will not improve.
However, I, the Great Mojozenmaster can advise Obama on how ‘leverage’ the situation to his advantage. Rush wants to debate Obama in the comfort of his EIB studios. If Obama was smart, he would accept the debate but would take Rush out of his element and hold the debate on more friendly territory…a place like Cal-Berkeley or Columbia University.
I think Rush could crush Obama in any forum, anywhere. However, if he did it in ‘enemy territory’ it would be legendary.
we have now passed the point where the “do absolutely nothing” approach would have been far superior. The country could have saved the cash, not promised to nationalize half the country and things would have sucked for a few quarters and then eased back to prosperity.
You are obviously have an economics background, funny how you missed it when lots of pundits predicted 1-2 years ago that the Dow would sink to 5,000. Obama can’t do a lot about the funky banking practices and 30-1 leverages or the auto makers that could only make a profit selling $40,000 SUVs. The economy is pretty much fucked and from your ivory tower it really doesn’t matter does it. I agree that the big banks should be allowed to fail but the central banks weren’t going to let that happen. If Obama would eliminate all taxes for the wealthy, things would turn around immediately.

You think a guy who does nothing but spew rhetoric with no concern for the repercussions or need to continue to hold any kind of leadership position could outdo a President in a “debate?” Shocking. It’s amazing how much easier it is to make your “point” when you have no fear of any kind of consequences for how you do so.

Maybe Obama and his staff should stop talking about Rush and ignore him completely……stop calling him out and stop saying his name.
If Obama was truly Presidential, he would follow your advice and ignore Rush completely. He would not even validate Rush’s existence. By the virtue of his office, he should be above the fray.

Rush would kill him. Rush does 3 hours a day, every day of unscripted, live radio. Whether you like him or not, he’s extremely articulate and knows his stuff cold. Obama can’t make a simple speech without a teleprompter. Interestingly, I noticed a commentary on that very subject today on Yahoo News… Link
Having said that, I don’t think it’s appropriate for any sitting President to “debate” a radio host. Doing so would demean the office of the presidency.
