Don't cut corners!

Almost had this happen to me today. I think my buddy was trying to set me up…

Why do I just keep watching this over and over and over and over?!

This is lovely

Agree! You’d think that after the third time hitting the pole he’d figure it out and take the corner wider.

I wish it went on just a bit longer. I would love to see the eventual reaction of the guy in the green top. It seem’s he’s a bit slow to process the event. I’m guessing there must be more of a reaction one way or other.

Hmmm…anyone want to guess why a camera happened to be positioned at that spot?

Or cut really short like the guy just behind him who passed to the inside.

They should have had a safety cone there. Ouch

The pole was already red and white stripes… if you can miss that, visually, I don’t see how a safety cone would help. You’re either looking where you’re going, or not. This guy clearly was in the latter group.

Werent there 2 people in front of him, 1 cuts the corner and makes it the other goes around?

Yes and I assume that’s why the unfortunate runner clipped the pole, but there’s also at least 100 meters of dead straight in front of the corner with a clear line of sight to the pole. I occasionally find myself guilty of tunnel vision in group ride/run situations as well, usually with no bad side effects, but it’s a good reminder to look around the riders/runners immediately in front of you. Even though it’s common courtesy and proper etiquette, especially on the bike, to call out road junk and furniture, the only person that can guarantee that you’re not going to hit something is you yourself.
