Done, finally!

5.5 months, several hundred hrs in labor, $3,000 worth of building materials…I could not get out of Home Depot for less than $100 on every trip…my at home office-training-keep my sanity space is finally done. It is so cool. Treadmill, trainer, weights, desk, rocking chair, heat and air, library, its all good. The kids and wife are liking the treadmill and I get some company on those long trainer rides. It was years in the dreaming stage and its finally done.

It wasn’t without an ordeal or two. Last week I went out to paint trim, turned on the kerosene space heater, puttered around a bit and went in for supper. Came out 30 mins later to the space filled with black-sooty smoke. That just about defeated me. It took nearly 24 straight hrs of labor to get it back. ABout 1am that night I was putting on a paint roller and the skin on my hand got caught during the application, stretched it about 2 inches. Talk about pain. Worse I could not get the damn thing off my hand. I had this bad thought I’d have to go to my own ER with a paint roller hanging from my hand. The Tim Taylor tag had already been threatened on me anyway. Primal scream therapy does work : ). Earlier in the project I was pulling nails from the joist’s and the hammer slipped off the nail head under considerable force casuing me to smash my fingers. In the insuing withdrawal from the painful stimuli I drew my hand back over my head and impailed it on the roofing nails. Blood and bruising on that one. Blood, sweat, and tears but she’s finished. If ya’ll are in the neighborhood stop on by. Cheers.

YAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!

Oh man, that whole little story nearly drew a primal scream from me!

Nice to have a home workout space - I’m jealous!

Pay LOTS of money to have a room added under a deck, while your at it, pay to have deck extended, do the drywall and paint inside and out to save money only to find out six months later the wrong type of roofing was used and now in the everyday Florida rains the roof leaks, ruining paint /drywall/etc.Find you really can not do much to the clown who did the work,so you hire a guy to help you get the deck from being spongy when you walk on it and get it reroofed and the deck re installed over the room, the whole time trying to help the new carpenter ,again to save money, while it rains everyday, while working a full time job,and also wanting to ride the bike some,I feel you pain
.

Do you have any pictures that you can share?

Randall: Oh, now those are set-backs. And going the insurance claim route probably raises the premiums. A much wiser builder-type friend of mine says the cost to do any project right is fixed. Pay it up front, pay it in tear-downs and rebuilds but you will pay it… I tried to beat it but learned the hard way.

Mr. Tibbs: My buddy is already pushing in that direction but me thinks I’ve drawn down the extracurricular activity budget into the red-ink. Dreams are good though.

Z. No pics, not sure how to do that. I think the shot of the space with the big skylight over the treadmill may be just too much : )!
