I don’t know what your budget is, but the best deal going in my opinion is light-bicycle carbon wheels…
http://www.light-bicycle.com/all-mountain-29er-carbon-mtb-wheels-clincher-tubeless-wheel-ready.html
- 680 bucks for carbon rims with DT swiss 350 hubs or 750 with Hope Evo 2 pro hubs (what I have)… or get still decent chinese hubs for 560 or so…
I have 2 sets - the all mountain 30mm as well as the 27 mm cross country rims (which I’m convinced are the same as the specialized rivals)… I have beaten the crap out of the all mountain ones so I have no reservations about their quality.
they stand behind their product - crash replacement rims are 50 or so dollars? There is a thread on mtbr that is hundreds of responses long talking about how great these wheels are.
Carbon wheels transform a 29er - much stiffer and way lighter!
I have a set of Stans Crest rims on Industry9 red classic hub with red nipples
The rear is 10x135 thru axle which fits in QR drop outs the front is 15mm you can get adapters for QR
Used one year on my XC bike

Thanks! Unfortunately a bit too pricey for a beginner like me. More just looking for something used, a bit lighter than my 2200g wheelset with Deore hubs, and durable that can run tubeless easily.
Try contacting Pacenti
http://pacenticycledesign.com/index.php/products/wheels
It’s not on their site now but they were selling some clearance items.
A set of Pacenti 29 TL28 discs, less than $300 if I recall
Maybe they still have them, who knows, worth trying.
Send me a PM, I have some in storage (Bontrager/DTSwiss), without rotors and they’ll need new sealant.
