Donations - idea: corporate matching

I just had a thought. My company is taking monetary donations for the Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund. They have a corporate matching policy for donations of $50-$5000. Of course, I want to give money.

But, I was thinking, does anyone’s company match more than 100% of what an employee contributes? What is the corporate matching policy at your company?

If someone’s company matched at 150%, I wouldn’t mind sending you the check instead so that your company matched MORE than mine could (is this ethical?). I’m guessing that corporate matching at 100% is about as good as it gets, though. I’m not concerned about the tax write-off or whatever. I was just curious if there was some way for me to get the most out of my donation.

Is this a hair-brained idea? Thoughts?

My company is matching 2-to-1, but the funds are dedicated to assisting to 13,000 employees we have in the affected region. Still trying to find out if we have the same deal on red cross or salvation army.

(is this ethical?).

Not according to my system of ethics.

my company is matching 100%, but last year when we did the same thing for the Tsunami relief the company contribution was actually more like 110% of what we (as employees) donated to Red Cross becuase the president wanted to contribute a bit more.

i’m happy to help out and all the money goes to American Red Cross (as it did last time). I’m impressed that our company will do that.

saw on the news last night that CDW is matching 4 to 1
