Doing IMLP? What are you doing THIS weekend?

I was wondering what people who are doing IMLP are doing THIS weekend for training/tapering…I have a 3.5 hr race simulation brick today…

One of my training buddies is heading to IMLP. We’re riding a century on the IM Wisc course today. Going to be hot and humid - low 90’s.

My husband and I are diong LP. We are did a 50 mile bike yesterday and a 12 mile run today.

Did a 50 mi. bike/ 3 mi run Sat. and a 10 mile run today.

Saturday morning was a 3-hour bike ride followed by a one-hour run. The first hour of the bike ride was pretty easy, then got into some decent hills and finished with a higher tempo and uphill finish. The run went back down the hill I’d finished riding on to simulate what’s in store in two weeks!

I had planned to do a 1.7 mile open water group swim on Saturday afternoon, but not feeling like doing another “big” workout, opted instead for about a half hour staying close to shore and practicing sighting, etc.

This morning was a 90-minute ride with some 5 to 10 minute faster intervals once I was warmed up.

I am a lifeguard for the race. I am getting some sun with my feet up. Thinking about all the work you all are doing. HA HA.Say hay when you swim by in 14 days.

Dirt

I have been spending the last week and I will continue for the next two weeks trying to remember how to swim. I have been reviewing the posts on Slowtwitch, and it seems that the swimming part has something to do with water. This seems very odd to me since I thought IM was an aerobic event.

I am certain I will sort this all out by race day.

4.5 hour ride on Saturday with a 45 minute run afterwards. 30 mins of the run done at 80-85%.Suppose to do a swim too but I “forgot”.
Today a 1.5 hour run with the last 20 minutes at 80% and then a 45 min bike to flush the legs.

Last long ride (115 mi, 7 hrs) on Saturday in the (unavoidable) hills and heat of north Ga. ‘Easy’ (race pace). Wiped me out anyway. Easy 6 mi run Sunday. Nothing but taper between now and race day.

Long rance accuweather forcast for IMLP says partly cloudy and 76 degrees.

Short efforts on both days. The saddle sore shoulld be gone in another day or so.

I’m really looking forward to the change in weather from NC to LP.

Saturday, was a 20 min spin on the bike. Sunday was Peterborough Half Ironman.

What are most of you folks doing the upcoming weekend (1 week out) ?

DEV, you racing LP? ski jump death shuffle, here we come!!!

Sue

Sue, there better not be a deathshuffle this year !!!

All kidding aside, my only goal for LP is to cross the line with my son and not finish in the medical tent. I’m winging this Ironman on half Ironman racing/training plus a number of long rides. The marathon is a big question mark, as I have not run more than 2 hours since April 18th (Boston marathon). That being said, I will give it my best shot !

you friggin sandbagger! i bet you’ll ride a 5:30 and run 3:30!!!

This weekend my husband and I are doing a 60 min spin class easy on Sat. Sunday will be a 1500-2000 swim and a 6 mile run.

I am getting really excited… and scared as hell… it will be my first full!! I rode the trainerlast night while watching Ironman Hawaii DVDs… I cannot wait to cross that finish line and get that “look” in my eyes that all those finishers get!! I always thought it was excitement for having accomplished something so significant… but perhaps it is pure elation that the pain over for the day :)…

90 minute sea swim on Friday evening, nothing like floating around in the sunshine, after a good long swim, to start the weekend. Saturday morning sees a 2 hour run at IM pace to test nutrition and self before getting the car to drive East to watch two buddies take part in the Nationals (Oly distance) on the Sunday. Once back a 4 hour/1 hour brick is calling.
