No, not that kind of hot! (I think we all know the answer to THAT question.)
I mean, literally, does the amount of training we do for triathlon increase metabolism (or maybe it’s something else) and make your body run hotter than ‘normal’?
I’ve noticed lately that I get really hot at night under the covers. Don’t feel sick or feverish or anything, just like my body is generating a lot of heat.
Happens to me when I start a new training phase. For example, when I came off “off season” and went to “pre-race season” about a month ago. Significantly increased my training time, doing a large amount of long-slow-base building training, which tends to fire up the metabolism and burn more fat. The body starts to adjust and will continue to burn fat, even after your workouts, even while sleeping. First week or so, I would bury myself in the blankets (it’s cold in WI right now) and wake up covered in sweat. It will happen again when I come off pre-race season and get into race season load.
yes i definitely have the same problem. I’m always hot and she is always cold. yet somehow i always end up stealing the covers… I don’t get it but yes i have the same issues as you.
My wife calls me the human furnace. I never have trouble falling asleep, but sometimes on sunday nights when I go to sleep after a big volume weekend my own heat keeps me awake.
definitely agree with that one, when i am training a lot and am getting in good shape, my temps vary like crazy. I’ll get really hot and really cold. I think a lot of it has to do with the furnace (internal metabolism) and then depending on the situation, lack of insulation (low body fat)
I notice this as well…if I’m training a lot, my body generates a lot of heat…especially at night. My wife notices it more than I do.
After a really hard race, HIM or longer, I often feel a bit feverish the day after. My theory is that the muscle damage is creating a reaction similar to an infection.
My wife is laughing as I read this to her. I am a sweat machine at night. just sitting around the house it is often I am sitting in just my boxers, she is bundled from head to toe and sitting in front of the heater wrapped in blanket. I sweat so much at night it is astounding. I am embarassed when we change the blankets to find my side of the bed a total mess. Her side is perfect. Its disgusting.
We finally changed the room so that the bed is situated to have the heater blasting her side, while I am next to an open window. She also uses extra blankets. The funny thing is, I am not much of a sweat producer while training (except on the indoor trainer).
