Are you going to age group worlds too that would make you feel even better.
I don’t need to hear that pros dope to feel good about myself. It just shows me how pathetic thy are.

nope, cant run fast enough.
I can ride a flat 56 miles at 24.4 mph. I can ride over 100 hilly miles two days in a row in 350+ week. Not too bad for a working age grouper. Both hurt and take time to recover. I still feel like a weak cyclist watching what these guys do day after day. Sorry, but I cant help feeling a little better about accepting my limitations after all of this.
Thanks for letting everyone know how great you are. Actually, now I feel even worse about myself.
The cycling and triathlon doping scandals don’t diminish my own enjoyment of riding a bicycle any more than Barry, Mark, etc. are able to diminish the joy of playing catch with my son.
Grant, am I going to see you at worlds?
Dave
not fishing for a compliment, stating that I work hard and still fall way short of the pro’s. if my post offends you, dont read about half of the race reports on this forum, k?
Actually, you were suggesting that without PEDs, you do NOT fall way short of the pros. In any event, I certainly am not nor was offended. Was just answering the question you posted, and based on your greatness without PEDs, simply realized that the doping scandal actually makes me feel worse about myself. I also appreciate your advice. Do you think you can point to the half of race reports that I should read? Thanks.
actually it doesnt make me feel better or worse about my feeble efforts. I cycle and also play other sports and in every case there is no way I would ever compare my efforts to the pros, with or without dope. Unless you or I are in the ultra elite category trying to make a living at the sport through without peds why would it make any difference to anyone? Not directed at you specifically but I often wonder what the root cause of our objections are to doping or other forms of cheating? Do we feel betrayed or maybe there is some deep moral objection to cheating that so offends us?
As I mentioned on anoter post having ridden the Gavia, Stelvio and Motirolo recently, I would be doped to the gills if I was a pro and racing the Giro!
Ultimately I am still and will continue to be a fan of pro cycling, these guys are all good athletes, they are suffering all the same but they just go faster
you win, Im sorry and have a good night. I’ll go back and delete my posts though they are quoted.
Why delete yours posts? You said nothing wrong. Only certain people on ST seem to be able to post their
results, some of which are great, some are not so great, and not be attacked. Congrads on your results.

No sadly bad luck at both chances i had to qualify. I really don’t have the run this year. Its a lot better then last year… last year i never broke 8:30 this year i’ve been between 6:45 and 7:30 pace. I need another winter to get low/sub 6min.
I’m just giving you crap abotu the worlds thing don’t take it personally. I would be more then thrilled if i made it i’m just not there. That was actually my goal for the year and i blew it at nationals. It just sounded like a look at me i can do this time blah blah blah.
Grant
Yes, I am finding my run is what has allowed me to do so much better this year. Meaning, with the top folks in my AG, and even below, we all swim around the same,
and bike around the same. It is who has a run that gets to the finish first. I know running goes first, which is why I need to improve on the bike for next season
or this year will be the exception, rather than the norm.
How much swimming do you do? Masters? All I can offer if do 5 hour a week masters swimming is what gave me the lungs to kick butt on the run
with very little run training. Am hoping this keeps the knees in one piece for a while.
Sorry your season did not go as planned. Too bad you did not do the aquathlon on Thurs, it would have gotten you to worlds in Canada and on Team USA.
Assuming you go to nationals next year, and they ahve the aquathlon again on Thurs, you may want to consider it. I know I have trying to get as many folks
on the tri teams I am on or know to put it as a goal for next season.
Hang in there, it has only taken me 11 years to finally have one decent season.
Dave
It would make a huge difference i could go from the 2:15-2:20’s i’ve been doing to 2:05ish. My bike and swim right now are pretty consistant between races. For instance at lifetime i had an awful run 46:30ish but came off the bike with a 14min lead in age group so it really didn’t matter. It will get there. I have been hurt from random stuff this year not overuse just dumb things… i.e. spraining my ankle after a race when i steped in a hole in some grass or running into the fence at nationals that messed up my knees for a couple weeks.
As far as swimming i did 15k-20k a week over the winter which brought me down from mid 30’s to 23-26mins this year.
I’m already qualified for nationals at 2 of the 3 races i’ve done since 07 nationals so i am good for next year i’ll be there its only my second season so i really can’t complain about how anything goes this year.
Grant
You are the person who hit the fence at nationals? If so, talk about bad luck!!!
Last year I tripped over a string line and fell smack on my face. I cut oleandors in the heat
and the swelling got so bad I missed doing vineman 70.3 last year. Etc. etc.
Yep, I can relate.
Yep, I have already qualified for 08 nationals also. (Assuming the RD sent the stuff in. :o) )
So, hope to see you next year, healthy, and kicking butt, with no more fouling around with the fence.
At your leave, yep, you need to be racing in the low 6 minute pace to compete in 2:05 stuff. In my dreams I could go that fast.
Luckily more older guys are getting slower, like me.
Now, if I could do a 20’s in an Oly race, it would be cool, very cool. Maybe with a few more years of swimming.
Dave
it’s the manner in which things are posted…
I have learned many many times, that no matter how one posts, some have a personality to read it from a half empty
spin, and some a half full spin. Trust me, as you get older, if you have not seen this yet, you will.
