that every political party turns politics into a sideshow, like some sort of football game or revival?
If I’m not mistaken reguardless of who takes office the goal is the same, to do the will of the American public. Why is it that the parties feel they need to have a pep rally prior to the election and do a victory dance afterwards? Kinda turns my stomache. I won’t even mention the apparent dollars wasted at these parties.
It also bothers me that after every election, they talk about reaching out across party lines to work together for the good of our country. Everyone smiles, has there picture taken and we all feel good. This will last a few days and we will be right back where we started from.
I think the “We won!!! Whoo Hoooo Kicked your ASS” play’s into what you’re saying. When was the last time you saw a football or baseball team go to the losers and try to make them better so that the next time they’ll get their ass kicked.
Sad really but instead of change we’ll be getting same shit…different party.
Well then there’s that…and that’s a local politician.
Exactly my freakin’ point. I was listening to some politician screaming “WE HAVE TAKEN BACK THE HOUSE” as if he had just stormed the beaches of Normandy and I’m thinking…where are these people coming from? Does the American public carry the same sentiment? If so we are indeed fubar.
Well, when the party that is opposite of Bush$Co wins, it doesn’t bother me at all b/c all the celebrating is with reason - the victors are going to improve the lot of the USA.
Now, when Bush$Co win, and I see that sort of celebrating, yes, it does bother me - it bothers me a lot to know that people celebrate dimwittedness.
He is a true political machine. I am quite shocked by his numbers and his landslide victory over all the other people running…what I think is REALLY neat is the number of “Under Votes” from his district. Just under 50% would rather have no one as opposed to the winner…LOL

And don’t forget, only 40% of Americans voted and many of the races were close so they would be wise to think about that for the next few years instead of the normal policy of doing nothing until the months before the next election, where they can loudly proclaim what they will do if elected again.
I find it odd that many people were thumping their chests when we went into Iraq, while claiming “we are giving them the right to vote” while they don’t vote here, but that’s another thread. After listening to the politiicians repeat the same old same old, I’m beginning to wonder how we even get a 40% turnout.
Well, it seems they are going to follow Bush$Co’s new-found call for a “fresh approach” in Iraq. I guess Cheney’s “full speed ahead” meant full speed ahead in getting the troops out of Iraq. Good idea #1.
Well good on ya, I hope it works out for ya. So far it’s been getting us no where, but hey keep trying.
Also since Bush wasn’t on the ballot I’m finding hard to understand how he got voted out…or even against… “My side vs theirs”. That my friend would be a dimwitted mentality.
Yeah…you think anything will change? Maybe we can parter with Iran! Yeah! Jimmy Carter part Deux (reverse justice!)…I am calling Steven Segal about a new movie roll.
btw, the new congress will not be in place until January (just a little civics lesson for ya)"
I’m not talking about this week and if you’re worried about your kids maybe you should set your sights a tad further as well. 30-40 years of “politics as usual”, either democrat, rep or whatever has gotten us no where. The “Cheering” and “Hooray for our” side has been going on forever. Political conventions to rival and major brainwashing or “revival” I’ve ever seen and “victory parties” to rival the rioting after a championship game.
Again it turns my stomache that politicians, and apparently a good deal of Amercians in general, are more worried about their side winning than making any sort of real progress.
I voted, unless there was voting fraud going on…Bush wasn’t on the ballot. Come January he’ll still be president, barring tradgedgy, impeachment etc etc.
Here’s a second example, impeach Bush. Good idea #2.
Whenever I hear someone say this, it indicates to me that they haven’t thought this out very well, if at all, and that they don’t understand the Constitution very well.
I recommend that you go read Amendment XXV, Section I, for starters.
So instead of people shutting their pie holes, going to work and actually working on real world problems, let’s spend untold resources, time and effort impeaching people. Not one but 5-6 to really get the job done right! Man that’s a great idea!
I recommend that you go read Amendment XXV, Section I, for starters.
agreed, it is highly unlikely that anything of the sort would be taken up by this congress elect (they’re not nearly as stupid as the crowd of yahoos that was around in the late 90s). for this congress elect to take their collective eyes off of the task of fixing the Bush$Co fuck ups of the last 6 years would be a colossal mistake.
but i’ll admit that i’d get some measure of enjoyment in watching Georgie squirm if they did put him on the hotseat. it’d make his normal press conference antics pale in comparison.
