Does Ergomo read a Garmin HR signal?

Hey all,

My Polar 710i finally bit the dust (OK, I pulled it apart trying to change the battery myself, lost one of the screws, then left it sitting disassembled on the kitchen counter for a week and spilled wine all over it, but that’s another story).

Sooooo, I need a new HR monitor, and I’m thinking of going with a Garmin 305. Does anyone know if the Garmin HR strap will work with an Ergomo Pro? Ideally, it would be nice to have both on rides to be able to map routes and get power data, but I’m not about to wear two HR chest straps  That’s over the top- even for me.

No, mine will not. I tried the Forerunner 305 hr strap w/ the Ergomo. No go. Went with the new all-cloth polar strap.

Does the new all-cloth Polar strap work with the Garmin?

I just checked it w/ a Garmin (Forerunner 305) strap and a Polar T31 (standard un-coded strap). The Garmin does not work and the Polar does. Basically you are stuck w/ using a standard un-coded strap for the Ergomo.

Hi Seton,

Thanks for the reply and info. FYI- the Ergomo does work with a Polar T61 coded strap also (that’s what I had on my S710i), but it sounds like I’ll be sticking with Polar if I want something that I can use on the bike and run.

as others have said no go on the 305 HR strap. The uncoded Polar works just fine. Iwear the 305w/o HR strap for the mapping and distance. ANd use the Ergomo with Cycling Peaks software for Power , HR graphing etc.

Does the new all-cloth Polar strap work with the Garmin?

Nope. But, on a positive note, the new all-cloth Polar (“Polar Wear-Link”) strap is far more comfortable than the other ones (including the Garmin).

Nope, won’t work. The T61 is coded.

Not to be argumentative, but the Ergomo does work with the T61 coded transmitter. That’s what I use, and their website also says it works with coded transmitters:
