Hey Joel, what happened to Natasha?? She looked pretty good at the start of the run. I thought, being that this was her first shot at Kona, she would have really wanted to at least finish baring disaster. What happened on her run?
P.S. Sorry for hijacking the thread. I’m also curious as to where Joanna Zeiger went. She looked great coming off the bike…and wasn’t too far back, if I remember right.
Natasha fainted on the run. She will be posting a blog shortly with more details, but basically she felt very dizzy on the run and heading into the energy lab she collapsed. The medics arrived quickly, did some tests and took her right away to the finish medical area.
The tests they did indicated she was not overly dehydrated, blood sugar normal, sodium OK. She has a black eye from the swim and we suspect she had a concussion and the effects only showed up once off the bike into the heat on the run.
She is very disapointed in not being able to at least finish. She’s on her way to Florida now, and is considering IMFL to give it another shot.

Whoa, sounds like disaster to me. Too bad, she really did look good starting the run and was having a great race. In any case, good luck to her in IMFL, if she decides to do it.

Seriously, I had heard from Shawn that she collapsed in the energy lab and was surprised, since she looked so smooth coming back to town from the Alii Drive turnaround.
