Does any race have slots for IMAZ?

I noticed on the site that it says “tba” for placid and canada, but it doesn’t say anything about qualifying races for spots to IMAZ. Does anyone have the scoop on that?

In the past they’ve had them at SOMA and I think at Ralph’s, but they haven’t made any announcements for 2008. You could do the community fund which still has some available right now…

I know… but i am not commited yet. Believe it or not, when I think about another winter training for imaz, i think about you and your wife, and how great you guys did with riding the CT preparing for the race. You have no idea how much confidence that gave me after meeting you guys:-)

IMAZ still open as now. Are you thinking you might decide to do in the future after it is filled up?

it filled up yesterday
.

Oh finally! A race I signed up is sold out  just looked at it now they didn’t update the web page I guess yet…

Hah…well the winter CT training worked well for one of the two of us at least!

In 2006, Ralph’s had slots to IMAZ but only 1 guy took one. In 2007, they moved the dates between Ralph’s and IMAZ closer together and didn’t offer IMAZ slots. There will not be IMAZ slots in 2008 either.

Hey Sophie, go try and get a Kona slot at St. Croix instead…much easier to train for in the winter, and a nice location to go to for a short vacation.

Alternatively if you are bent on doing an Ironman in the early season, you can go to South Africa, New Zealand, Australia or Malaysia! All of these are amazing locations. If I could guarantee 3 weeks of riding, I’d love to go to South Africa!

You could also head over to Monaco on Labour day weekend this year. It has 30 slots for Kona and is not sold out yet, although I would say that chances of beating the studly Euros on their home turf in the Alps Maritimes are almost zero.

dev, my goal is not a kona slot, it’s a sub 11 race! I don’t care about kona, been there, done that. IMAZ is easy for me, I have a condo in scottsdale.

I was also considering AZ too but since i procrastinated too long am now thinking about Brazil vs the more expensive route to AZ…it’s a little later in the season too for you folks in Northern States.

Soma always has a bunch. I know last year guys in our club got in that way, and they rolled pretty far down.

Sent you a PM

Really? I was the only one who took an AZ slot at Ralph’s last year? I thought there were a few people up there with me. I could very well be wrong, though, since I signed up for three IMs that day.

thanks… no way i would be in shape in time for soma though!!!

it’s still open from where I sit???

http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1425001

huh… ironmanarizona.com says "closed to general entry weird.

Then hit my link and enter, Good luck.

It looks like that active.com link is closed to online entry, but open for entry to those who were on-site and picked up their voucher things…

I think its still open for people who have their vouchers from on-site registration. If you click on the REGISTER NOW! button you see that it says FULL for everyone but on-site registrants.
