I found myself ridding on a bike path the other day and got a call on my cell phone. I aswered the call and talked on the phone while riding one handed for a couple of miles. I thought to myself what a stupid thing to do. But I figured I was on a bike path so the risk was less. Then yesterday I saw someone talk on their cell phone on a ROAD and thought that was going to get ugly. Anyone else talk on the phone while riding? How about using a headset?
All the time.
Nope. I only bring it when I’m riding alone and even then I turn it off. That way, if I do get a call I’m not tempted to answer it. I know I would try. After I get on the bike, I forget I even have it. It’s for emergency only.
Cell phone is never on while riding, it’s for emergencies only.
All the time…and I like to do it pulling while others suffer…LOL

"All the time…and I like to do it pulling while others suffer…LOL "
That would be harsh
.
After you do it a couple of times you will forget how dangerous it is for you and others… same as within a car. You are on the right track!
I however am biased, because I was nearly killed by a driver on his cell. Although he was clearly distracted and caused the accident because of it, he got away with only being told to “be more careful when you talk on your phone and drive”.
F.W.Y.: I carry my cell, but will only answer it if I am off the road/path after I can pull over. And no, I have been told to be not a bad driver or bike handler.
Never bring it. Too much weight.
Grammar Patrol? While / When whats the difference?
Ummmmm, that’d be spelling, not grammar.
I hate it when people do that – especially on group training rides. Their phone rings and they want everyone to wait up for them. Just don’t answer the damn thing. I carry one when riding alone, but I never have it on. It’s for emergencies, only.
Tuesday night we have a really smokin’ local ride. I’m bustin’ my butt tryin not to get dropped up this hill by the front of the group. There’s a local guy who races for Jittery Joes and he’s in town. He comes sailing by me … effortlessly … yakkin’ away on his cell phone. He lives on his bike, though. I view that differently than the morons who can’t live without their cell phones for a couple hours a day.
Bob C.
Only a poser loser dork would do that.
I do bring a cell phone with me on rides, and it is on. But it is also my only phone. The only time I talk on it while riding is to say “hold on” and then pull off and stop, then talk.
"Ummmmm, that’d be spelling, not grammar. "
I need to start using the forum spell check more often I guess. If only the forum software would underline all my misspelled words in red squiggly line.
I once saw a woman driving an SUV while simultaneously smoking AND talking on her cell phone. I thought humans only had two arms. Fascinating.
I bring my cell along for emergencies only. I keep it inmy saddle bad so I don’t hear it ring anyway. Hopefully I will never have the occasion to need to use it on a ride…kj
I ride with doctors who carry their phones with them all the time–even on swims.
“I found myself ridding on a bike path the other day and got a call on my cell phone.”
Never mind the cell phone, I’d be more concerned about “ridding” on the bike path. If you must eliminate, then as a favor to other riders and trail users, please do it in the bushes instead.
I fixed my post, hope that makes you happy! Riding not Ridding. OK I get it now.
