Do you live in a beehive of rednecks who either dislike or misunderstand your dietary/exercise habits

So ok had this incident recently…I was at a gas station out of town looking for an iced starbucks coffee. They have a bunch of starbucks coffees in freezer and only one i’ve found that has no sugar in it - as i’m trying to avoid refined carbs like the plague since i’m in weight loss mode. I always forget which one so I was flipping them backwards looking at nutrition labels.

This was a total white, republican redneck hic area w population of about 1500 (maybe?) with an average BMI of 31 give or take, so I guess they absolutely not a clue that a person examining nutrition labels could exist.

This raised suspicion that I was a shoplifter, and lady called the cops on me. I didn’t find out til I walked out of bathroom and a cop is standing there, and starts asking me questions. I haven’t a clue wtf this is about, and cop isn’t telling me what it’s about so I could clear the air and it ends up a longwinded conversation where he eventually gets up my ass about “might you have anything in your pockets, a coffee perhaps?” I’m on low sleep mode and thinking that I stole a coffee by accident…but i’m thinking a hot coffee. Either way i’m searching in pockets cause this fucker was so convinced I stole the coffee.

Anyway typical cop ascertains i’m not guilty of the crime the dumb bitch lied to them about, starts going for other shit assuming i’m guilty of other crimes.

I ask him “may I leave”, he doesn’t respond to question and keeps asking more questions. I’m in slow motion mode cause i’m terrified they are gonna pull something out of their ass. The deputy is standing by door still also, and i’m terrified they are gonna pull a “disorderly conduct”, or “resisting arrest”, or a “we thought he was going for a weapon”, or whatever the hell to make the dumb bitch clerk who was dead fucking certain I stole a coffee and themselves look good.

It goes without saying I yelped them, I told all my friends not to go there, I don’t stop by there for gas anymore, and I told everybody on craigslist what a bunch of morons they are. I had just spent $35 in this town at a diner and other places, and buy gas there periodically - plenty of other gas stations in the world. The lady should have used her fucking brain.

That said, as a complete non-shoplifter/non thief/non criminal the cash register looked very ripe with cash and they really should get more security. I hope they get robbed! SEE LOOK THAT PROVES I’M A CRIMINAL!!!

EDIT: I didn’t piece together that the lady was suspicious at me for flipping the starbucks coffees around til I got 6 hours of much needed sleep, that’s the only thing it could have been.

Call cops on me and cops are up my ass for like 10 minutes.

That seems like an awfully long time for a body cavity search.

You’re original post was “better”. Certainly much more descriptive. And riddled with stereotypes. I was actually waiting for the part where the cop tazed you.

They did everything but a body cavity search. They had me believing I stole the coffee even (thought for a second maybe I was just sleepy and had a brain fart). The dumb redneck bitch apparantly was very, very certain I stole a coffee or was guilty of some other crime.

I didn’t still a fucking coffee by accident btw, they have surveillance cameras which i’m sure they went over 500 times cause I quite clearly was a sinister character.

I’m quite well aware it was riddles with stereotypes. But it’s really fucking annoying when they know you didn’t commit the crime you were accused of and violate your rights by not letting you leave. Felt humiliated over what…a fucking coffee I didn’t steal wow…

BTW as a non robber/steal/criminal just couldn’t help noticing the cash register looked ripe with money and security was lax. I hope no actual criminals heard that.

Hahah I was beyond polite to the officers, too polite actually. I’m not being polite anymore their behavior was revolting.

I love friday posts!

That said, it sounds like it was less about “them fru-fru fancy coffee drinks”, and more about you putting one in your pocket that concerned her. I bet it could have been pork rinds, and you’d still be getting cavity searched!

I was able to read your original post before you edited it and was wondering why you spent so much time reading labels only to go to the bathroom without purchasing something first? Why wouldn’t you go to the bathroom first then find the coffee you wanted? How long were you in there that allowed the cops to show up when you go out? Not trying to criticize you in a bad way just trying to understand other details that lead up to the incident.

If I was the cashier or attendant and looking at stuff and then go to the bathroom without buying something then I’d be suspicious too. It would not be because I’ve never seen anybody look at a nutrition label (or ingredients list since there are quite a large number of people with food allergies).

I’m not gonna defend myself and I also highly suggest you kill yourself.

Got accused of shoplifting by a lady…an iced coffee. I was flipping them around looking for the one starbucks with no sugar I like to buy.

Lady automatically assumes that’s shoplifting behavior and I must have shoved one in my pocket in between all that. Call cops on me and cops are up my ass for like 10 minutes.

What am I missing? Where does the exercise and dietary stuff come into play? I think you might be seeing what you want to see.

I understand putting stuff in your pocket at the store. I’ve done it before absentmindedly. You only have two hands and want to keep the first thing out, but still sort through other options. It’s not like there is a counter or table there in the aisle on which you can set something temporarily. Where else do you put it (assuming you don’t have a shopping cart), on the floor?

I also walked out of a convenience store with a drink without paying. Totally zoned out. I realized when I was outside and turned around to go back in and pay.

The only thing worse than living in a beehive or rednecks is living in a beehive of liberals. But that’s just my opinion.

The lady was a neurotic idiot…the cops were kind of dumb but I blame it mostly on the lady telling the cops she was DEAD CERTAIN I stole something.

Really?

So you got a bit hassled. Yeah, it’s a funny story. Now you’re just being a belligerent idiot.

Looks like you are handling this situation with a lot of maturity and understanding. How long will you cry about this and how many people will you tell about this?

HAHAHA I didn’t even put in the part where I was wearing this ugly black hoodie I absolutely despise… I wore for the very first time that year (swear on a stack of bibles) because it was rainy and disgusting out and I didn’t want to get my nicer clothes drenched. Completely 100% true may God strike me down dead.

Might as well include that part if you’re all gonna turn this into a political war lmfao…

I wasn’t attacking you in any way as that wasn’t my intention. Sorry to have bothered you.

Are you the kind of guy that thinks your are super smart and everyone else is really dumb? If you are inconvenienced in any way is everyone around you an idiot?

I think you’re an idiot. Lets talk face to face some time. I don’t believe in smart/dumb I believe in Smith and Wesson and the bill of rights and my rights were violated.

The cops were not nearly as dumb as the lady who called them, but they are most definitely not detective material.

I’m not gonna defend myself and I also highly suggest you kill yourself.

Why did you have to say that? Seriously, loxx0050 didn’t say anything wrong. Calm down.

To me, it sounds like you did pocket the coffee and took it into the bathroom where you enjoyed it for long enough to allow the cops to arrive. Then, you ditched the bottle somewhere (out a window, broke it up and flushed it down the toilet, etc.) before opening the door to find the cops waiting to see what’s in your pants.

You should count yourself lucky that you didn’t go in for an Arizona iced tea and a pack of Skittles.
