Do you like or dislike biking?

Honestly, I hate it. I can bike on my trainer, but… Actually, I think it is biking in beautiful locations that I hate most about it. If I ride my fluid trainer all the time in my cold, dark basement, I think I could enjoy biking more.

I have been thinking about getting back into biking / triathlons after a few years off. But I just don’t know if it is worth it, especially if I dislike biking so much.

So what about you, do you really dislike biking (or cycling or swimming), but tolerate that sport anyway as it is part of the sport of triathlon?

Note that the above post is written in pink text…

I like it. I was a runner before I was a cyclist but I am a little better cyclist.

Riding is good.

Riding my bike makes me so happy I feel like I’m on drugs. Well, besides the PEDs of course.

Love it, live it.

I love triathlon except for all the swimming, biking and running. I think I’ll become an official IM family-of-participants corral person and just stroll across the line with finishers to get my photo. Which shoes are best for walking the last 15 or 20 feet of an IM?

I like swimming, I like biking, I like running. I don’t like transitions because sometimes I forget which shoe does on which foot.

I added pink text…

Love it, love biking at local roads, love riding in Tuscany, love Mallorca - enjoy riding wherever - going for 200 km tomorrow morning, can’t wait.

Yeah, I agree. Biking sucks. Absolutely hate it. Can’t you tell by the tone of all my other posts.

enjoy biking a lot…long miles…over 100 miles is a favorite…can eat and drink a lot and its great going down hill and ya get to cover a lot of ground on your own power and see alot… Favorite bike course is the valley loop for IM Wisconsin. A lot of farm country, lots of hills, open country, smells great and on the bike.
But then again I love to run long distances too…

Hee hee.

In general, I dislike cycling - I don’t get that endorphin rush that I do from running, or the breathless feeling I like in swimming. Cycling doesn’t feel like anything to me.

The exception is riding down Cottage Street in the morning before it’s filled with those things which we call “tourists.”

of course you are jesting. Everyone loves cycling; well, except tigerchick.

I like biking though the forest preserves on my mountain bike. Training on my tri bike is less enjoyable because I always do it at or near race pace. “Dislike” would be too strong a word for biking but not for swimming.

Someday you will get that rush from cycling, TC. Someday, plan a trip out west or to europe and ride 100 miles somewhere new to you/beautiful and you will be exhilarated by it too!

I love cycling, right up until my lower back starts to hurt. Seems I’m hitting that stage at 2hrs and then suffer from then on. I keep thinking I’ll get past it, but not yet.

i enjoy cycling. I enjoy swimming. I LOVE running. Cycling is a blast, but I just don’t get the same high like I do from running.

I hope so. Triathlon is not a good sport for someone who does not like her bike.

However, in order to ever “get that rush from cycling,” I’d have to actually spend time on my bike (which I haven’t ridden since July 16). The main issue, I am sure, is my putting effort into it.

I love biking. Except when I have to be on the same roads with jerks in vehicles. Keep all those butt holes off the roads and biking would be nervana! There are just too many friggin idiots out there to really enjoy biking as much as I’d like.

I LOVE nice 5 hour rides in the mountains. Nice long climbs with good sightseeing and nice screaming (not too technical) descents. What’s not to love.

Why does that text look vaguely familar (minus the pink) and substituting swimming for biking?
