Tim, why on earth would you cut off beer? That doesn’t sound like you at all.
I know it’s completely out of character, but it worked at Steelhead. I did a 5 day beer taper and packed a Bridgeport IPA in a little cooler and hid it outside of transition at Steelhead. It motivated me. I biked angry wanting to get to that beer ASAP.
Prevents bonking as well. I know if I bonk I don’t get my beer as quickly.

But, I really like a good tasty beer or ale, as long as it’s not real sweet. (Except for double chocolate stout–yum!)
I figure it to work one of two ways…
I either blow up in the first 5 minutes of the swim in which case I won’t be too upset since my beer will be close by, or I get a Kona slot in which I will know I left everything on the course in the name of beer. This should ultimatly please the beer gods and bring my back into good standings.
It depends on the beer. If all there is, is Bud, Coors or nasty crap like that - I’ll pass. Life’s too short to drink bad beer!
Even Coors has it place though. Works well when doing a beer mile competition since it’s so close to water anyways.

I’m on vacation… I leave tomorrow by 9:00am. Yesterday evening two of us had a case and a half of beer. Today, about 14 hours later… We have 4 left…
I not only like beer, but I love beer. Always have, wish I could say I didn’t. Not so sure a week goes by that I don’t have at least one beer.
