Do you donate blood?

If you do, how long do you have to wait afterward before you begin training again?

I do fairly frequently. I do not take any time off before resuming normal activities.

can train fairly normal agian the next day… maybe at a lower intesity and you might feel a bit tired for a few days with the training but if you have no races for 6ish weeks your fine. I always try to give blood in the off season and whenever I can during the season.

Thanks for the info.

Based upon your sig. line “Appendix Free…” you are gonna be rejected from donating for a while.

I donate 2 to 3 times a year. They have a new machine called Alex (something or other). It’s automated and it draws 2 pints out of you, separates the RBCs and pumps the plasma with some saline and anticoagulant back in you. You can’t give again for 8 weeks. It’s a creepy feeeling process because you can feel the cooler stuff going in you and spreading about your body.
I tolerate it because I feel better the following day versus giving a straight pint. I donated last the day after Thanksgiving. I’ve been feeling a bit lethargic since, but it’s coming around.

Is that because I had my appendix removed? Or is it just because I had surgery? How long would I have to wait?

I did once when I was in USN avionics school in Millington, TN. Afterwords me and my buds hit a few doobies and drank many beers in order to maximize the giving experience. We wuz RIPPED!

Before I could ever get around to donating again Uncle Sam sent me to Thailand so that I could contract Hep A. Now nobody wants my blood. :frowning:

I realize that this was not really an answer to your question, but what the heck, it did involve donating blood!
