Do you count every minute of running when determining weekly mileage?

i’m curious whether people count only the time they’re out on a designated run, or whether they count every yard of running to figure out their weekly mileage. for example, i’ll do a 5 mile run in the morning, and then run 1.5 before i left in the afternoon and 1.5 after. would you count the three warmup/cooldown miles at the gym?

Did you run them? Why wouldn’t you count them?

I just love the folks out there that you see jogging on the spot at a traffic light. Or better yet, those that are so anal about the whole thing they actually stop their watch while they wait for a light to change.

I don’t count warm-up and cool-down, which are walk-jog-walk-jog combinations, even though it’s usually 1.5 miles worth.

I resemble that remark - well maybe the stop watch part if I’m getting stuck by traffic for a REALLY long time.

The jogging at a light is a bit over the top.

Heck - by the end of my long run I’m usually praying to get stopped by traffic to get a breather.

To the OP - why wouldn’t you count it?

They probably do it so that their logged pace is not slower…

Log everything I say

Peace

For me, its just like weight lifting, you’re supposed to measure your bicep cold, but why would you do that?
Same with weight, why would you weigh at any time other than the morning (where you are at your lightest)

Running is the same, track it all.

Ha. I don’t jog in place at lights, but I definitely stop my watch.

I stop my watch and jog in place. Take that!

You know the difference between a jogger and a runner?

At a stop light a jogger will jog in place. A runner will curse at the stop light.

The only written numbers that matter are your race results.

A stereotype, but one reasonably well grounded in a plethora of anecdotal evidence.

I definitely stop my watch at stoplights, especially if they’re longer than 30 seconds or whatever. I also count all weekly mileage where I’m actually “running” (i.e. have no instance where two feet are on the ground).

Yup, I’m a jogger.

Actually, I prefer the term, “participant”

Then you may find this werd…the only time I wear a watch is when I do track workouts. I don’t even wear one when i race.
