Do women's-specific cycling shoes make a difference?

I’m using the (presumably) men’s Carnac tri cycle shoe right now. They seem ok to me, but sometimes my feet get a little numb on hills no matter how much a I play with the cleat positioning. I was wondering what the actual difference between men’s and women’s cycling shoes is, and if it really makes a difference as far as comfort, performance, etc.

Any opinions?

(I got women’s specific goggles and they were horrible. Just a marketing ploy in my opinion.)
