Do I need liberal friends and family members?

Ok. Most of my friends and family are either right wing or very right wing. A number of them forward on all those hateful, victimhood emails about how the media is against them or some group gets benefits while they don’t. Since the few liberal friends and family members don’t send stuff like that, I have to wonder if it actually happens on that side of the political spectrum. Unfortunately, most of the missives are just blatantly wrong. They are so easily checked that one has to wonder if some of these people are ignorant or intentionally dishonest.

Here’s one of the ones I got today. Took about 2 seconds to think, “gosh, that doesn’t look like a little Iraqi girl.” Another 10 seconds and I could verify the dishonesty. Where does this stuff come from? Do liberals send around stuff like this that I just don’t get forwarded to me?

That’s probably true. They keep mooching my beer at night and then sipping on $5 lattes during the day. No liberal has ever gotten me into the suite at the hockey or basketball game.

What I started doing was hitting reply all and putting the snopes link in my reply so that everyone that they sent the crap to would see that the person was sending them BS. The emails of that kind soon stopped.

That’s true. But ultra-librul parties make me nervous. Everybody seems to have this under-current that hides their nefarious agenda. You know it is there, but you just can’t see it. And they keep the room dark for some reason.

Right wing parties are much more up-front. No hidden agendas because they’re not that deep. They are well lit and have better food.

I’ve not read all the responses, but you don’t need to find new “Liberal” or “conservative” friends, just friends that think rather than live off of emotion. No offense to your current friends.

People send this kind of thing along on both sides of the aisle because they don’t think. Subject matter changes but they’re all the same.

  1. Am I being judged for driving up in a Tahoe?
  2. Am I drinking out of a red plastic drink cup that is being re-used?
  3. Will there be any meat served?
  4. How many layers should I wear because they probably don’t turn on the heat?
