One of the great features of the Wove saddle is the bottle mount, which is very comfortable to reach and very aero (I’m assuming). The Cervelo rear bottle mount sucks, its too far back to reach comfortably, and can’t hold two bottles.
If you don’t have a Wove, you can buy a horizontal mount from Evolve Aero for £89 (plus shipping, I assume), which is basically just white label of Minoura mount + extension.
I was concerned that when bending the Minoura mount to make it point horizontally, it will lose strength, but with the Dash saddle having a big cutout, I just ziptied it to the back of the saddle, so I have two anchor points. To complete the setup I used a leftover bungee cord for bottle retention.
Total cost of buying from Amazon: $20 (links below). Took about 30 minutes to set up.
The spares aero bottle looks awfully susceptible to just falling out. I have a p series. Grip strength of that cage does not strike me as strong enough for an upside down mount unless you glue it or something. You been out on roads riding the setup yet? Either way, cool handy work!
I’m surprised you were able to do this without the minoura bracket giving out. I had posted in another thread asking if it was strong enough to go horizontal (without bending) and someone replied that it most certainly wasn’t.
Though from the looks of it, you’re borrowing strength from the saddle itself and the zip ties?
I’m planning on using it for flat kit, so I will not need to be able to take it out. I’m planning to cut an opening in the back for access and it will be glued/ziptied for sure.
It was actually me that replied to you. I had this fail in the past, but it was only anchored to the saddle rails. With the ziptie holding the body of the minoura, I think its safe.
Since this thread, I’ve since found a solution using An adjustomatic bottle holder used for recumbent bikes. I’ve combined it with a few Wolf Tooth Brad parts to shift everything where I want and to split the bottle mount. I’m running 2L flat and so there’s lots of weight back there.
