TLCs show “World’s Strongest Boy” about pint sized Hercules Richard Sandrak. Little kid who, at age 8 could bench 215.
I’m having trouble believeing this kid isn’t going to have all sorts of problems later in life.
That kid was all the rage in bodybuilding mags a few years ago. I can’t remeber what the deal with him was. Either he has too much testosterone due to a fluke or he is missing the gene that regulates muscle growth or something. He is, despite the cliche, a “genetic freak”.
I didn’t watch too much of it, but his dad was a nutjob who had him on all kinds of restrictive diets and supplements, and he’s been working out since he was tiny. I got the feeling he was mostly the result of a whacked out family life.
“…he was mostly the result of a whacked out family life…” plus a steroid chaser (IMO)…
Joe
He’s definitely not the kif who is missing myostatin - I think that kid is much younger.
jhc … that’s the one I was thinking of. Have you ever seen the picture of the bull that is missing myostatin? Un real!
Dan, the kid you are describing has also been all over bodybuilding mags. He’s into karate, gymnastics … all sorts of stuff. The dad is a bodybuilder-type himself. Obviously, they are the subject of quite a bit of debate.
Saw an update on this kid a few nights ago. He’s now 12 yrs old and living a much more normal life. His dad is serving time in jail on family abuse charges. Apparently the dad had this kid on roids and all kinds of supplements and wierd diets as well as being very physically abusive to the mother if she ever tried to speak out. He saw the kid as his meal ticket.
The kid is still athletic and participates in school sports as well as playing video games and other activities that normal grade 7 kids do but his premature bodybuilding past is behind him.
The dad is a real nutbar and hopefully hasn’t done any long term damage to his son. They interviewed the kid and he said that he never wants to see his father again.
Wow…
I was always told that hevy lifting before/during puberty impaired skeletal growth… I wonder how tall this kid will end up being

This site has a bunch of pictures. Not normal.
Kids athletics/activities … It’s never really about the kids is it?
Seems like everything kids do is an immediate reflection on the parents’ ability to teach/coach. I’ll stop there, I could go on forever about this subject.
It’s nice to see that Richard is happy.
